The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist PCICU
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to critically ill pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. As an embedded pharmacist within the cardiac ICU the Specialist will work closely with cardiology cardiac surgery intensivists advanced practice providers nursing and the multidisciplinary care team to support real-time medication-related responsibilities include clinical review and verification of high-risk medication therapies participation in daily rounds medication reconciliation and patient and caregiver education when appropriate. The Specialist will support management of complex cardiac and critical care pharmacotherapy including vasoactive agents anticoagulation sedation and post-operative care while promoting safe and effective medication use in a high-acuity role works in close partnership with the Johns Hopkins Childrens Center Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center to support specialized cardiac care delivery and optimize outcomes for this unique patient population. Additional responsibilities include education and precepting of learners including students and residents and active participation in quality improvement safety and cardiac critical care-focused initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm. D. degree or B.S. and 1 year of experience required
- Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is required specialty residency in Pediatrics is preferred
- Requires current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland
- Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or a certification deemed appropriate for the practitioners practice setting by Division Director is required within 2 years of start date
- Intravenous (IV) Certification (includes aseptic technique and hazardous substance handling) within 90 days upon hire unless exempted by Division Director as beyond the scope of practice
- BLS certification within 1 year of hire is required
Salary Range: Minimum $59.29/hour - Maximum $97.91/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
