Description of Work

This position is in the DEQ Stewardship Program which is responsible for monitoring and managing Department-held conservation properties easements and agreements. These properties easements and agreements include those generated through the DEQ Division of Mitigation Services dedications and registry agreements established through the Nature Preserves Act and other conservation properties managed by the Department. Program activities include monitoring study enforcement and site-management for the purposes of protecting the ecological integrity of these conservation properties.

The Field Representative is responsible for the monitoring management and protection of DEQ conservation easements and properties. Duties include landowner communications easement compliance inspections monitoring report review contract management boundary marking and coordination with stakeholders and other interested parties. Regular in-state travel occasional overnight travel and arduous field work are required of the occupant of this position.


Key Responsibilities:

Steward conservation properties and easements in accordance with Department procedures recorded deed agreements and site-specific management plans.

Perform conservation boundary inspections and refresh conservation boundary marking.

Perform quality assurance investigations of contractor-reported findings.

Interact regularly with team members and DEQ legal staff to determine courses of action for resolving cases of easement trespass and damage.

Communicate with landowners and interested parties regarding easement field inspections post-inspection follow-up and resolution of cases of easement trespass and damage.

Maintain geospatial data landowner contact information monitoring reports management plans and other relevant conservation site information.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in one of the agricultural biological engineering environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
