Senior Hydropower Engineer
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Senior Hydropower Engineer to join our growing Water Business Line in Western Canada. This is a unique opportunity to play a leading technical role in the delivery and growth of major hydropower dams and power generation projects across Canada and internationally.

As part of our team you will provide senior technical leadership on some of the most important hydropower projects in the market while helping expand AECOMs growing presence in the sector.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as Senior Technical Lead Design Manager Project Manager or Owners Engineer on major hydropower and dams projects.
- Lead the planning assessment rehabilitation modernization and delivery of hydroelectric generation facilities including turbines gates penstocks auxiliaries balance of plant systems and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Provide senior engineering oversight for feasibility studies due diligence reviews owners engineer assignments refurbishment programs and new generation developments.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across civil structural geotechnical electrical mechanical and environmental disciplines to successfully deliver projects.
- Support major pursuits and proposals across Canada and internationally by providing technical strategy project approach development and client engagement support.
- Build strong relationships with clients OEM suppliers contractors utilities developers and strategic partners.
- Support business growth initiatives in the hydropower sector alongside AECOMs Market Sector Lead Hydropower and senior Water leadership.
- Mentor developing engineers and strengthen AECOMs technical hydropower capability in Western Canada.
- Provide site support inspections commissioning oversight constructability input and troubleshooting during execution phases where required.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Civil Electrical Electro-Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
- 8 years of relevant hydropower engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience in hydroelectric generation projects including rehabilitation upgrades equipment integration or new build facilities.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and interacting directly with clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 20 years of hydropower industry experience.
- Professional Engineer designation (.) or ability to obtain in Canada within 6 months.
- MBA PMP or equivalent project leadership credentials.
- Extensive experience with turbines governors gates penstocks auxiliaries balance of plant systems and plant modernization.
- Experience across North America and international hydropower markets.
- Strong understanding of utility clients IPPs contractors OEMs and owner-side delivery models.
- Experience on pump storage major rehabilitation and large-scale generation projects.
- Proven track record in technical leadership client development and proposal support.
