About the role
This is a permanent 0.8 FTE role based at Dunedin Hospital. Currently we are a team of four and you would work in a close and supportive environment. Our department provides generalist plastic surgery service; therefore good exposure to a great variety of plastic surgery including skin cancer treatment breast reconstruction elective hand surgery (acute hands are managed primarily by Orthopaedics) and the opportunity to provide reconstructive collaboration with the Orthopaedic ENT & General Surgical Services. Some experience in management of burns and experience in microsurgery is essential. We are well supported by the other Plastic Surgery centres in NZ with regard to large burns cleft lip & palate craniofacial surgery and vascularanomaly surgery.

As an introduction we provide care for a population of approximately 350000 spread over the lower South Island of New Zealand. Our staff enjoy close relationships with the University of Otago School of Medicine and Otago Polytechnic School of benefit from continuous professional development involvement with medical and nursing student training participation in research and many more opportunities arising from working in a combined clinical-academic environment.

About Dunedin
Dunedin is a great little city with a big town feel and well-known for its Southern Hospitality. This compact yet vibrant regional city has plenty of energy which is to be expected with it being a University town. This sustains great activities such as theatre stunning gardens art galleries live-music and a diverse selection of restaurants and cafés. Central Otago is a notable holiday destination and many outdoor recreation opportunities are easily accessible from Dunedin.

About you
This role is open to registered Medical Practitioners who have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent enabling specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Salary range

This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($185380) and Step 15 ($267980 per annum pro rata)
