Job Summary
Position Summary
To assist the Head Coach in all facets of the program with emphasis on teaching and mentoring team members relative to sport specific skillsNCAAII rules and regulations individual and team development concepts as well as life skills education. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head Coach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists the head coach in managing and directing the program.
- Assists the head coach with all aspects of the program including training practices player instruction game preparation competing and scheduling.
- Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements.
- Assists in completion and processing of paperwork as requested.
- Assists with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes evaluating high school and junior college players and maintaining accurate records and data bases on theNCAACompliance Assistant program.
- Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department attends department meetings and activities and always represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community alumni coaches the media and the general public.
- Responsible for knowing understanding and abiding by Walsh University policy and procedure and NCAA II compliance legislation and conference rules.
- Failure to comply byWalsh University policy and procedure and NCAA II compliance legislation and conference rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

Education:
Bachelors degree required.
Work Experience:
At least 3 years experience in the field of volleyball including playing and coaching. Other significant experience relative to coaching volleyball and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program can be considered.
Skills and abilities:
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word Excel Outlook

- Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels indoor and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so thatothers may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend to stoop to sit on the floor to climb stairs to walk and to reach overhead.
- Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium; whistles crowd noise; yelling and screaming.
