Position Summary:
The Kindergarten Jumpstart Instructor is responsible for preparing incoming kindergarten students for a successful transition to school by providing targeted instruction in foundational reading and math skills. This role focuses on building school readiness through engaging developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support early literacy numeracy and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver daily lessons focused on early literacy skills including letter recognition phonemic awareness vocabulary development and foundational reading concepts.
- Provide instruction in early math skills including number recognition counting basic operations shapes and patterns.
- Use hands-on play-based and interactive strategies to promote student engagement and learning.
- Support the development of school readiness behaviors including following routines participating in group activities and building independence.
- Monitor and maintain accurate daily attendance and communicate any concerns to the Site Facilitator.
- Create a safe nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of young learners.
- Collaborate with site staff to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive experience for students.
- Communicate student progress needs and concerns with program staff as appropriate.
- Follow all program guidelines safety procedures and district expectations.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching license with early childhood or elementary endorsement preferred
- Experience working with preschool or kindergarten-aged children
- Strong knowledge of early literacy and numeracy development
- Ability to create engaging age-appropriate instructional activities
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Working Conditions:
- Onsite instruction during scheduled program hours
- Active engagement with young children in a classroom setting that includes movement play and hands-on learning
This position plays a critical role in ensuring students enter kindergarten with the foundational skills and confidence needed for academic success.
