The Quality Engineer will be responsible for strengthening customer quality in-process quality and incoming quality control within the manufacturing environment. The role focuses on reducing customer complaints and returns improving first-pass yield (FPY) and rolled throughput yield (RTY) enhancing detection mechanisms and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory standards. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams (CFT) to drive continuous improvement and ensure robust quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Quality Management
Reduce customer complaints and returns through proactive quality improvements.
Investigate customer issues and drive effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
Develop strategies to prevent issue escape from organization to customers.
Ensure horizontal deployment of corrective actions across all projects and customers.
Monitor RMA (Return Material Authorization) cases and ensure closure within defined TAT.
Act as the interface between customers and internal teams for all quality-related concerns.
Provide timely updates to customers on issue status and resolution progress.
Align internal processes with customer requirements and expectations.
Maintain customer complaint logs reports and performance metrics.
Support new product introduction (NPI) to prevent quality issues.
2. In-Process Quality (IPQA)
Monitor and improve FPY (First Pass Yield) and RTY (Rolled Throughput Yield) across projects.
Identify and analyze top recurring issues; drive improvement actions with CFT.
Map customer rejections with internal failures to identify gaps in detection.
Lead GYAT (Go See Act Teach) reviews and drive corrective actions.
Monitor critical process parameters using SPC Cp and CpK analysis.
Provide real-time support to IPQA teams on process observations and clarifications.
Review and update Process FMEA (PFMEA) and control plans.
Ensure closure of audit findings and periodic review of past audit actions.
Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (8D Lean Six Sigma etc.).
3. Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
Perform incoming inspection of PCB electronic and mechanical components.
Ensure supplier quality compliance and address incoming quality issues.
Handle SAP-based inspection records and documentation.
Apply IPC standards (IPC-A-600) for PCB inspection and acceptance.
Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve incoming defects.
Drive improvements in supplier quality and incoming inspection processes.
4. Quality Systems & Compliance
Develop and maintain quality documentation as per ISO standards.
Support and coordinate internal and external ISO audits.
Improve Quality Management System (QMS) based on audit findings.
Ensure compliance with customer-specific and regulatory requirements.
5. Training & Continuous Improvement
Train and mentor teams on quality standards and problem-solving tools.
Promote awareness of quality expectations across production and support teams.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across customer process and supplier quality.
Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelors Degree (BE) in Electronics & Communication (E&CE) Electrical & Electronics (EEE) or related field.
36 years of experience in EMS Aerospace or PCBA manufacturing environment.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of PCB electronic components and mechanical inspection.
Experience in customer quality IPQA and incoming quality functions.
Hands-on experience with SAP and quality documentation systems.
Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-600 preferred).
Strong problem-solving skills (8D Lean Six Sigma).
Experience with quality tools: SPC Cp/CpK GRR PFMEA.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
