Overview
The Flight Operations Base Manager manages the day-to-day operations for Flight Operations at the assigned base and co-leads a team of Flight Operations Crew Managers and Administration staff to ensure Pilot competence and qualification with regards to safety regulatory and communication requirements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Flight Operations Crew Managers provide direct coaching support discipline and evaluation of all performance in the areas such as customer satisfaction on-time performance safety and completion factor.
- Develop and support Flight Operations Crew Managers and Administration staff measuring performance by setting goals and objectives to include annual evaluations.
- Establish and account for Flight Operations base goals initiatives and operational performance metrics in dependability work performance attendance and operational goals.
- Supervise the Flight Operations team and administer coaching discipline and recognition to create a successful team and meet performance objectives.
- Coordinate with maintenance aircraft operations and crew resources departments to maintain operational control of line operations.
- Ensure pilots meet established levels of compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Responsible for development of a balanced program of discipline and for conducting investigations and interviews when violations of company policy or federal regulations occur.
- Establish support and maintain agreements between Union and the Company through effective communication and interaction with union representatives.
- Conduct and participate in base meetings departmental staff meetings and Pilot meetings.
- Maintain high level of knowledge and ensure compliance in the areas of Company Policy FOM FAA Regulations and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Collaborate with the Inflight Base Manager to oversee the administration of the random drug and alcohol testing for the base.
- Participate in decisions of hiring promotion and termination of flight operations employees.
- Participate in budget review and reporting process.
- Establish and maintain a close professional relationship with the Inflight Base Manager to facilitate joint flight operations/inflight initiatives and programs.
- Ensure crews possess all required company materials such as charts manuals forms and uniforms.
- Establish and evaluate standards of performance and appearance for flight operations department.
- Conduct special studies or projects as required by senior flight operations management.
- Establish policies for and supervise project coordinators and line check airmen assigned to flight operations.
- Participate in the SMS program as established by the Director of Safety.

- This position will be responsible to co-lead and manage the Flight Operations Crew Managers and Administrative Assistants.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or a combination of education and related experience.
- 3 years of experience in Flight Operations or related field preferred.
- 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of FARs and Employee Contract Administration.
- Reliable and self-motivated.
- Analytical interpretive and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi task efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and able to work with all levels of an organization.
- PC proficient in Microsoft Office software specifically Word Excel Outlook and Powerpoint.
- Ability to work additional hours including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- This is a non-flying position involving office work airport operations and on aircraft operations in all types of weather. Airport gate and ramp operations are noisy and can be hazardous without due caution.
- Some repetitive motion such as typing.
- Position requires some physical exertion such as pulling pushing reaching bending standing walking and light lifting of boxes bags and electronic equipment not in excess of 40 lbs.
- Can involve long periods of sitting and walking on the aircraft.
- Travel up to 30%
