Job Summary

This position is under the general supervision of the building administrators and is responsible for teaching Agriculture classes to students in grades 9-12 in alignment with applicable state and national standards. Duties include classroom instruction and supervision duties as assigned. This individual must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff to provide students with a well-planned organized instructional program utilizing effective school practices.

Qualifications Required

  1. Current Oregon Teaching License with CTE endorsement inAgriculture;
  2. Current Oregon Teaching License with endorsement in Biology or ability to obtain;
  3. Ability to teach Agriculture and/or Natural Resources courses;
  4. Willingness to meet requirements to maintain a CTE Program of Study in Agriculture;
  5. Willingness to meet requirements / serve as FFA Advisor (additional compensation);
  6. Demonstrated positive classroom management skills;
  7. Knowledge and skills in instruction / learning methods and techniques;
  8. Demonstrated behavior management techniques;
  9. Demonstrated understanding and judgment regarding student safety;
  10. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues support staff administrators students parents and patrons;
  11. Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators;
  12. Responsible to know understand and adhere to school rules and District policy.

Qualifications Desired

  1. Experience with CTE Program of Study Management & Reporting;
  2. Experience with Advising FFA (Future Farmers of America);
  3. Knowledge and experience in teacher effectiveness effective school practices and discipline techniques;
  4. Knowedge and experience with proficiency-based teaching and learning and standards-based grading;
  5. Ability to evaluate and convey the educational strengths and needs of students to parents and teachers;
  6. Possession of or ability to obtain a current first aid / CPR card;
  7. Willingness to immerse in the culture and traditions of JCHS and willingness to coach and / or advise clubs.
