The Foreperson II will work under the direction of the Manager Maintenance & Facilities. This role is responsible for supervising the maintenance team and overseeing the safe setup inspection maintenance and teardown of rides and attractions in compliance with provincial and organizational standards. It includes coordinating multiple trades ensuring timely project completion and maintaining accurate documentation and safety practices. The position also supports training orientations and safety initiatives while fostering strong working relationships across teams. Additionally the role involves operating equipment safely and contributing to a clean efficient and safety-focused work environment.

What will you do this year

In your role as Foreperson II your primary accountabilities will be to:

  • Supervision of maintenance team ensuring PNE standards and expectations for employees are always met.
  • Supervision in the setup tear down and maintenance of simple and complex rides and attractions.
  • Supervision of all trades including mechanics carpenters and Electricians.
  • Supervises the completion of daily ride and vehicle inspections in an accurate and timely manner meeting Provincial standards.
  • Assist with training of daily ride and vehicle inspections.
  • Assist with training of safety procedures.
  • Assist with orientations of new and returning employees.
  • Ensure projects are completed within a specified time frame layout work for best use of materials and notify management if difficulties arise.
  • May be required to be designated as a member of the High Angle Rescue team.
  • Must meet all required training obligations including attendance active participation exam writing and meeting any other certification requirements. Training requirements include but are not limited to AIMS high angle rescue WHMIS lock out zoom boom and fall arrest.
  • Participate in toolbox talk meetings including leading safety related discussions.
  • Maintain effective relationships with management employees other departments and the public.
  • Operate mobile equipment (forklifts scissor lifts zoom booms) in a safe and responsible manner and ensure all employees adhere to this.
  • Complete daily Mobaro input in an accurate and timely manner and ensure that all employees adhere to this.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment and ensure that all employees adhere to this.
  • May be responsible for maintenance of Facilities and associated Outside Services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What else

  • Post-secondary training toward a Trades Qualification (TQ) with current enrollment in a Millwright or equivalent Red Seal trade program required.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with management staff contractors and the public using tact diplomacy and flexibility.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding NAARSO certification as an Amusement Ride Safety Official or AIMS Level 2.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence required; must provide a current drivers abstract with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in Mobaro CMMS is required.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to inspect maintain and repair rides and attractions.
  • Ability to perform daily ride inspections and safety checks.
  • Ability to interpret manufacturer instructions and specifications and to assemble and repair attractions independently.
  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 200 feet.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment independently or with assistance.
  • Able to work in physically demanding and awkward positions.
  • Proficient in reading writing and speaking English to understand instructions complete documentation and conduct ride checks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to oversee the assembly repair and maintenance of rides and attractions in compliance with required standards.
  • Must supply own tools required to perform job duties effectively.
  • Valid forklift operator certification required.
  • Occupational First Aid Level II is considered an asset.
  • Standard hours during the non-operating season are Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. During the operating season (April to October) hours and days may vary.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts including evenings weekends and holidays is required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check.
