The Role
The Corporate Affairs Manager will be responsible for supporting business operations and growth in alignment with cross-functional regional and global directives. The core objective of this role is to protect or increase volume and profit support product and business expansion and effectively engage stakeholders. The successful candidate will anticipate and assess changes in the political legislative and regulatory environments that create commercial risks and competitive opportunities for the company. Furthermore the role involves developing and implementing proactive strategies to minimize risk and maximize commercial advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Corporate Reputation & Stakeholder Management * Protect and uphold the corporate reputation of Global Tobacco Company.
- Develop a comprehensive stakeholder management plan including the detailed mapping of key political and regulatory stakeholders alongside a scheduled engagement and visit plan.
- Oversee consultant activities and provide support for Corporate Affairs (CA) plans and strategies.
- Foster strong relationships with key government bodies and ministries to monitor regulatory affairs coordinating with regional and global leadership to mitigate business impacts.
- Actively participate in relevant industry associations (e.g. Eurocham Amcham) to effectively represent the companys perspectives on important policy issues.
2. Regulatory Affairs & Policy Advocacy * Ensure strict compliance with policies and regulations affecting the tobacco industry.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate political legislative and regulatory developments (such as taxation and tobacco control laws) to anticipate shifts in the operating environment.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of political and legislative processes (how draft laws and regulations are created and debated) to enable the company to communicate its views promptly and consistently.
- Track regulations related to Reduced Risk Products (RRP) and maintain alignment with Headquarters policies and guidance on RRP advocacy.
- Ensure all renewal and extension licenses and approvals are secured to maintain seamless business operations particularly for new product launches or revitalizations.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Support * Monitor new distribution projects in collaboration with partners and local authorities to align business insights with the policy advocacy plan.
- Cultivate strong collaborations with distributors and local authorities to accelerate market entry and prevent disruptions to business activities.
- Coordinate closely with local agencies authorities industry stakeholders and international affairs teams working alongside the Business Development team at Headquarters on various projects.
- Provide ongoing support to the CA&C Director on ad-hoc tasks including VIP visits Corporate Responsibility initiatives and communication tasks (e.g. handling Gift and Hospitality Entertainment policies).
- Assist in handling issues related to counterfeit and illicit activities to minimize their impact on the business in coordination with the regional team.
Requirements: * Education: University degree or equivalent professional experience. A major in Law or Public Relations is highly advantageous.
- Experience: Proven experience in corporate affairs government relations regulatory affairs or policy advocacy with strong stakeholder engagement. Experience in the tobacco sector or similarly sensitive regulatory industries is highly beneficial.
- Languages: Full proficiency in both English and Vietnamese.
- Skills: * Strong interpersonal communication and influencing skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical abilities.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Basic financial understanding is a plus.
