Job Summary

Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute recognized by community government and institutions of higher learning as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. JOB PURPOSE



Under the supervision of the Associate Dean Health Services the Health Pathways Support Assistant will support the development and documentation of pathway options that support learners progression from Six Nations Polytechnic healthrelated programs into advanced postsecondary healthcare programs. The position is responsible for aligning SNP curricula with external admission requirements and producing accurate institutional and studentfacing resources. Key results include improved advising consistency clearly outlined pathway opportunities and strengthened learner mobility into indemand healthcare careers.


The Health Pathways Support Assistant is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff students stakeholders and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ganigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Health Pathway Research & Analysis 40%

  • Research and analyze academic requirements to identify and define potential transfer pathways from Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) health programs into external healthcare programs.
  • Review SNP PreHealth (339) and Practical Nursing curricula learning outcomes and prerequisite structures
  • Research publicly available admission requirements GPA expectations and prerequisite courses for selected external institutions
  • Research Indigenous-specific admission opportunities and application options for selected external institutions
  • Analyze alignment and gaps between SNP programming and external program requirements including math and science prerequisites
  • Summarize findings to inform pathway documentation and advising resources
  • Other related duties asrequired.

Pathway Documentation and Resources Development 45%

  • Develop clear accurate and accessible pathway documentation to support internal advising and student understanding of potential healthrelated pathway options.
  • Create curriculum maps aligning SNP courses with identified external program requirements
  • Develop a studentfocused Health Pathways Guide outlining prerequisites timelines and progression considerations ensure materials are culturally respectful learnercentred and written in plain language
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to create materials such as video clips social media-ready posts and brochures to promote pathway options
  • Other related duties as required.


Internal Coordination and Advising Support 10%

  • Support internal stakeholders by strengthening institutional understanding of potential health transfer pathways.
  • Collaborate with SNP advisors and student services staff to share pathway information
  • Support the use of pathway materials in advising and program planning contexts
  • Contribute to consistent messaging across academic and advising areas
  • Other related duties as required.


Identification of Potential Future Pathway Opportunities5%

  • Identify and document opportunities for future outreach and pathway formalization based on pathway research and analysis.
  • Highlight areas where pathway clarification or formal engagement with external institutions may be beneficial
  • Identify recurring gaps or barriers that may warrant future discussions or agreements
  • Other related duties asrequired.

EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Completion of post-secondary college or university of 3 to 4 years in Education experience in fields such as Health Sciences Education Indigenous Studies or a related discipline.

EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE

Over 1 years and including 3 years of experience in Post-secondary academic or student support experience that would include familiarity with program structures admission processes and criteria and/or curriculum frameworks.

Experience in supporting students with their understanding of program options requirements and timelines

Experience translating technical information into clear student-friendly communication documents.

Criminal Record Check

The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at Six Nations Polytechnic and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by their first day of employment at Six Nations Polytechnic.

SCHEDULE:37.5hrs Monday-Friday;

WORK MODEL:Hybrid

PAY BAND:3; Core range $44594.87$52250.00. The target hiring salary for this position is minimum (Step 1) up to 45% of the pay band. Considerations for new hire step placements include experiential knowledge and/or language and cultural expertise.
