ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)
The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane in nearby Williams Lake BC and across the globe.

POSITION
As part of the Marketing and Communications team the Summer Student will be responsible for assisting the department in organizing and delivering a variety of tasks and projects to promote community events programs and initiatives. This position will be reporting to Marketing and Communication Manager.
Employment Type
Full-Time Summer Student Term Position June 30 to August 28 2026 (35 hours per week).
Probation Period
3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required
- No education minimum required.
Experience Required
- No previous experience required.
- Must be 16 years of age.
Overtime Status
Non-exempt.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Photography or videography for promotional use.
- Basic graphic design using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Collaborating with team members on creative projects and brainstorming sessions.
- Perform general administrative and project support duties as required.
- Assist with the planning and execution of marketing and communication campaigns.
- Create edit and schedule content for social media platforms (e.g. Instagram LinkedIn X Facebook).
- Support the development of marketing materials such as newsletters brochures posters and presentations.
- Supports the mission vision and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
- Contributes to the WLFNs ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
- Proficient use of information technologies (computers mobile devices etc.) including Microsoft Office Suite presentation development tools online education programs and social media channels.
- Basic photography skills.
Skills And Abilities
- Good listening skills.
- Attention to detail.
Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry - per Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
