About the job

We are currently looking for a System Administrator to strengthen our Cronos Europa team and contribute to largescale IT programmes within the European Institutions.

The System Administrator will have to maintain and review its IT systems technical architecture assisting with all IT aspects of work related to support our data analysis and visualisation through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and statistical software.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Installation and configuration of system components and server software including patch management.
  
• Operating and monitoring of infrastructure systems servers.
  
• Preliminary diagnosis of software and hardware problems also in co-ordination with the central IT departments.
  
• Coordinate with hosting services.
  
• Performs evaluation and implement accordingly security standards in accordance with the corporate guidelines;
  
• Performs installation and configuration of system components and server software scripting & configurations in context of systems & infrastructure;
  
• Performs configuration management tasks & procedures;
  
• Participate in defining and documenting configuration of systems infrastructure and operational procedures;
  
• Analyse IS performances and monitor IT systems;
  
• Create and maintain static and dynamic web pages for the GIS Intranet;
  
• Ensure the follow up of software updates on the web servers and co-ordinate and install requests for new web applications for Intranet and Internet;
  
• Install and maintain the various web servers and tools required for the development of web applications as part of the dissemination of information systems on Intranet and Internet servers;
  
• Contribute to the definition and maintenance of the architecture and the structure of Intranet and Internet web sites;
  
• Assist the analytical team with technical IT issues and help define software and solutions best suited for GIS operations and analysis of data;
  
• Act as contact point for IT related requests/discussions with Commission IT services.

Your Profile

• Very good knowledge of Server Operating systems Windows/Linux and Apache webserver

• Good knowledge of Windows-based user environments notably of Group Policies and registry settings management;

• Good knowledge of Microsoft 365s applications management and administration;

• Good understanding of IT security matters;

• Works in team effectively and ready to represent the unit in technical IT meetings;

• Knowledge of programming languages scripting languages such as like Python Bash and Windows JScript/VBScript SQL and procedural languages (in Oracle or PostgreSQL) is an advantage;

• Experience with HTML/Javascript (OpenLayers libraries) or developing interactive charts with the Highcharts library is an advantage;

• Experience with Amazon Cloud is an advantage;

• Basic experience with ESRI GIS mapping software or other GIS software or with statistical software such as R is an advantage;

• Knowledge of versioning tools (GIT SVN Gitlab) is an asset;

• Knowledge of DIGIT IT ecosystem and procedures is a definite asset.
