TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES 2 MAW Standards Officer
You are appointed as the 2 MAW Standards Officer and your primary duties are as follows:
- Assist with the delivery of 2 MAW training and provide SQEP advice for 2 MAW syllabus change proposals.
- To provide assurance to the ADDH of best practices and safe aircraft operating procedures at RAF Shawbury and RAF Valley for 1 FTS.
- Provide advice and guidance to Squadron Commanders and Training Officers on instructional and operating standards and procedures.
- 6/12 monthly standardization B2 checks and re-categorization training with 1 FTS instructional staff at RAF Shawbury and 202 Sqn at RAF Valley.
- Fly with and examine a proportion of students on syllabus and check/test sorties.
- Carry out Instrument Rating Tests on flying instructional staff (if IRE qualified).
- Carry out Certificate of Competency checks Competent to Instruct checks Instructor Competency checks as directed.
- Participate and assist in preparations for MAA FSV and CFS Exam visits.
- Maintain input into the Juno and Jupiter training publications.
- Co-ordinate and compile Alternative Acceptable Means of Compliance to Regulatory Articles Requests for Change to GASOs and updates to the Shawbury FOB in consultation with the OC Ops Wing 1 FTS and ATC.
- Maintain flying currency as laid down in RAs GASOs and the FOB.
- Monitor 1 FTS ASIMS reports and liaise with the RAF Shawbury Air Safety Manager as required.
- Liaise with CFS Exam Wing Royal Navy Flying Standards Flight Army Aviation Standards and Support Helicopter Standards and Evaluation Unit for the latest standards and practises.
In addition you are to carry out the following secondary duties and additional tasks:
- Act as the Executive Flying Supervisor.
- Represent at the 1 FTS standardization meetings and monitor input into the standardisation bulletins
- Report on the functionality of all the Flying Synthetic Training Devices annually.
- Carry out any additional tasks as detailed by OC 1 FTS Standards.

- You are to undertake training and development to support the achievement of key objectives and outputs in accordance with the RAF Shawbury Training and Development Plan.
- You are responsible for identifying planning and evaluating your staffs training and development.

SUPERVISORY CARE DIRECTIVE The welfare of students undergoing training is everyones concern. If you observe or are aware of any student who is exhibiting any signs of having a welfare problem you are to advise the appropriate Line Manager immediately. There are a range of support mechanisms available that can be activated to resolve welfare issues; and if the appropriate Line Manager cannot be contacted or if the situation indicates that action outside of the Chain of Command might be appropriate details of your concerns are to be passed to the Adjutant the Padre OC PMS or OC PSF. You are to be familiar with the 1 FTS Supervisory Care Directive Order No 3.2.4.3.5. |
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
