Job Title:BCSO Sheriffs Data Technician - Quartermaster

Primary Purpose:

Quartermasters are primarily responsible for providing material and logistical support in various establishments such as the military navy or scouting organizations.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the procurement storage and distribution of various supplies equipment and provisions
  • Ensure the readiness of all equipment and supplies necessary for operations
  • Perform regular inventory and maintain records of supplies and equipment
  • Coordinate with other personnel or departments to fulfill logistical needs
  • Manage and maintain all forms of communication devices and transportation vehicles
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance of facilities ensuring they meet health and safety standards
  • Handle the transportation and accommodation arrangements for personnel
  • Provide training and guidance to subordinates or new staff on inventory management and other logistical procedures
  • Manage inventory and keep detailed records of storage and distribution of supplies.
  • Maintain and service equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Procure new supplies and equipment as needed
  • Assist in planning and execution of logistical operations.
  • Work with team members to ensure proper distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and compliance regulations.
  • Ensure that all procurement is done in line with the organizations budget.
  • Conduct regular audits of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate transportation and delivery of goods and personnel.
  • Resolve any supply chain issues or discrepancies that may arise.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes.
  • Proficient with inventory management software.
  • Good communication and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

Additional/Preferred Education Training and/or Experience:

  • Proven work experience as a Quartermaster or similar role in logistics.
  • Experience with inventory management and supply chain operations.
  • High school diploma is required; further education in supply chain management or a related field is a plus.

Typical Work Schedule:

  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and County attendance policies and procedures.
  • Regular predictable attendance is essential

*Note: This position has been identified as an emergency essential position and as such employees in this position may be needed to work including after-hours weekends and during a public emergency (to include but not limited to: floods ice storms disease outbreak terrorist attack etc).

Supervision Received:

Receives direction regarding general objectives of assigned work operates within division and agency policy using independent judgement in achieving assigned objectives; independently determines best methods and sequence to achieve assigned tasks.

Supervisory/Leadership Responsibilities:

May provide some training/ lead worker support through motivation direction review and feedback of assigned tasks.

Most problems are routine predictable and constrained with little or no uncertainty; problems or questions are referred to supervisor. Decision making limited to information contained within established policies and procedures.

  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

Valid North Carolina Drivers License

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily medium exertion requiring up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Additionally the following physical abilities are required: balancing climbing crawling crouching feeling fingering grasping handling hearing kneeling lifting mental acuity pulling pushing reaching repetitive motion speaking standing. Stooping talking visual acuity and walking/mobility. While most work is completed in an office environment occasional time may be spent out of doors. Position is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals priorities and needs.

During a State of Emergency and at the discretion of the County Manager county employees may be called in for service. This includes both essential and non-essential personnel.
