Job Summary

Position Description:

The Optimization & Performance Engineering Specialist is responsible for improving radio network performance through detailed analysis parameter tuning and advanced RF troubleshooting. This role works closely with optimization planning and deployment teams to enhance overall network KPIs within LTE and 5G networks with a strong focus on Nokia and Ericsson (E///) RAN environments and shared RAN

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Optimization & Performance Engineering
Collaborate closely with network optimization teams to fine tune RF and RAN parameters driving continuous improvement in key network performance indicators (KPIs).
Analyze drive test data configuration OSS counters customer complaints and long term KPI trends to identify performance degradation and improvement opportunities.
Develop and propose actionable optimization recommendations based on performance analysis
Troubleshoot complex RF issues including:
oCoverage gaps and Interference
oHandover failures and mobility issues
oThroughput and capacity degradation
oVoice call quality degradation and latency

Nokia / Ericsson Vendor Expertise
Perform RF design optimization and performance tuning within Nokia and Ericsson RAN environments.
Demonstrate deep understanding of vendor specific parameters features and configurations aligned with 3GPP standards.
Utilize Nokia OSS / Ericsson OSS tools dashboards and feature sets for diagnostics monitoring and performance optimization.
Apply vendor specific best practices to enhance LTE and NR performance reliability and user experience.

Technical Documentation & Reporting
Prepare comprehensive RF design and optimization documentation including:
oRF Design Specifications (RFDS)
oRTWP and interference analysis
oMIMO layer configurations and beamforming strategies
oAntenna specifications tilts azimuths and design rationale
Produce regular optimization feasibility and performance reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
Clearly communicate technical findings risks and recommendations to both technical and non technical audiences.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Telecommunications Electrical Engineering or related field
10 years of hands on experience in RF planning and optimization for LTE and 5G (NR NSA and SA ) networks.
Independently delivers high quality work without the need for ongoing support or oversight
Mandatory Nokia and Ericsson vendor experience including:
oRAN platforms and OSS tools
oRF Parameter and feature configurations
Expert level proficiency with RF design modeling and propagation analysis.
Proven experience delivering KPI improvements in live Tier 1 networks Canadian or North American telecom experience
Strong technical understanding of:
oLTE & NR PHY / MAC / RRC layers
oMassive MIMO and beamforming concepts
oCarrier Aggregation Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS)
oVoLTE / VoNR design and optimization
o3G LTE 5G NSA and 5G SA
oInterference detection and mitigation techniques

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level geographic market experience and training and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95000 - $145000. This Role is an existing vacancy
