Job Summary
The Scheduler Oncology supports Oncology and Infusion Services by coordinating appointments managing daily schedules and ensuring timely accurate communication across the care team. This role gathers and enters detailed patient and treatment information verifies scheduling requirements and works closely with clinical staff to align patient visits with provider and infusion suite availability. As part of a collaborative patient-focused oncology environment the scheduler helps create an organized compassionate experience by assisting patients with appointment needs and supporting smooth clinic and infusion operations. Through clear communication attention to detail and coordination with interdisciplinary teams this position contributes to safe well-organized care for patients receiving oncology services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and update oncology and infusion appointments ensuring accuracy of provider availability treatment requirements and patient preparation needs.
- Coordinate with physicians nursing teams and diagnostic departments to arrange necessary labs imaging and follow-up care.
- Maintain and monitor daily schedules for clinic and infusion areas addressing add-ons cancellations and urgent scheduling needs promptly.
- Communicate courteously with patients providing reminders answering questions and relaying scheduling changes to appropriate staff.
- Enter and maintain complete patient and appointment information in the electronic health record and related systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support administrative functions such as filing document preparation mail handling and assisting with departmental projects or onboarding tasks.
Licenses and Certifications Required:

Educational Requirements:
- Completion of a Medical Terminology course or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of six (6) months in a medical or healthcare setting required.
- Prior medical office or scheduling experience preferred.
- Proficiency with computer systems and EHR scheduling software required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills required.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged sitting computer use and frequent communication required. Occasional walking bending or light lifting (up to 25 lbs). Must be able to work collaboratively in a busy clinical environment. Environmental Requirements:
This position functions in an outpatient oncology and infusion services setting which may include frequent interruptions time-sensitive tasks and interaction with patients facing complex health needs. Work is performed in an office or registration area with regular use of computers phones and standard office equipment. Strict adherence to confidentiality privacy standards and Trinity Health information-security practices is required to protect patient health information.
