We have an exciting opportunity for a Foreign Nationals Outreach Worker who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time in a way that best meets their needs.

The Outreach and Community Team work with service users with substance misuse who are experiencing rough sleeping or at risk of homelessness.We are looking for a compassionate empathetic and proactive individual who can specialise with engaging EU Nationals to work with services and achieve positive outcomes for those they are supporting.

The successful post holder will be able to communicate effectively with service users from Romania and at least 1 other EU member states (Czech Slovakian Lithuanian Polish Latvian Hungarian.)

Where: Barnet

Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week(this post will include weekend and evening work)

Contract: permanent

Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the role:

This role will report to the Outreach and Community Team Leader within the outreach in Barnet You will hold a caseload of EU Foreign Nationals who are experiencing rough sleeping and substance misuse issues. You will work in collaboration with internal teams to support service users to progress in their recovery whilst working with partner agencies such as Housing domestic abuse services Dual Diagnosis Mental Health to support service users with complex needs.

  • Engage with Foreign Nationals who are rough sleeping sex working by participating in street-based outreach sessions at various times of the day and night
  • Hold a small caseload of service users who are known to the Outreach and Community Team the Foreign Nationals Outreach Worker will act as the main coordinator providing comprehensive assessments and Drug and Alcohol support
  • Providing screening assessment and recovery planning and onward referral
  • Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
  • Providing advocacy for access to partnership services.
  • To complete planned outreach projects with partner agencies to and offer support to any individuals who require support Including street counts satellite delivery for vulnerable groups.
  • Working with service users to support social (re)integration enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery resilience peer support and self-determination
  • To work with the Police the Home Office and anti-trafficking agencies when necessary to address issues relating to exploitation and trafficking

About you:

  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
  • To be able to communicate effectively with service users from at least two EU member states (Czech Slovakian Lithuanian Polish Latvian Hungarian Romanian.)
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills.
  • Knowledge of services available in various countries of origin.
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals agencies and internal/external stakeholders
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
  • Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
  • Experience of working with people who have been trafficked or victims of modern-day slavery
