Job Summary
According to Civil Service Commission Rule 109 the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.
1. Researches analyzes implements and evaluates environmental projects legislation policies regulations and laws.
2. Plans and implements environmental programs and projects by designing analyzing revising and making recommendations for program enhancement.
3. Develops implements and negotiates contracts grants and other expenditure by preparing budgets tracking expenditures and deliverables and developing and administering reports.
4. Updates and maintains databases and records; analyzes data and report findings; develops data use strategies.
5. Conducts education and training including presentations digital engagement and outreach; researches and develops outreach campaigns and strategies tracks and analyzes results and issues recommendations.
6. Prepares written and graphic materials including emails letters articles reports and presentations; responds to inquiries from the public including complaints and requests for information.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
These minimum qualifications establish the education training experience special skills and/or license(s) which are required for employment in the classification. Please note additional qualifications (i.e. special conditions) may apply to a particular position and will be stated on the exam/job announcement.
- Current Category 16 17 or 18 Exempt Employee in Class 5640 who has worked at least 2080 hours in class 5640;
- Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience in planning coordinating implementing analyzing or evaluating qualifying programs or policies. Qualifying programs and policies include those in the field of environment public health community engagement or a field related to the position for hire.
Substitution:
Additional qualifying experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

- Preliminary Questionnaire Training and Experience Assessment (100% Weight) -During the application process candidates will be prompted to complete a Preliminary Questionnaire as part of the online employment process. It will serve as the Training and Experience Assessment for this recruitment and will be used to determine your eligibility for this recruitment as well as your score and rank on the eligible list. Qualified applicants will be ranked on the eligible list based on the length of their exempt City service (in Category 16 17 and/or 18) in the 5640 Environmental Specialist class along with any additional qualifying points (e.g. promotive status) as outlined in Civil Service Commission (CSC) rules. All work history will be verified using official City records which will serve as the final authority in determining qualifying service.

Eligible List/Score Report:
A confidential eligible list of qualifying candidates will be created and used for certification purposes only. A score report will be established so applicants can view the ranks final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information including names of applicants on the eligible list shall not be made public unless required by law. However an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection upon request once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this selection process is subject to change after adoption (e.g. because of appeals) as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
Certification Rule:
The certification rule for this selection process will be Rule of the List.
