Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Role Summary / Purpose

The Director Compensation & Benefits Asia Pacific & Japan leads the design governance and execution of comprehensive compensation and benefits strategies across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The role ensures programs are competitive compliant financially sustainable and aligned with Abbotts global rewards philosophy and Employee Value Proposition. The role partners closely with Area and Country HR leadership Corporate Compensation and Benefits Finance Legal and external vendors to deliver locally relevant programs while advancing regional and global priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the APAC compensation and benefits (C&B) strategy aligned with global frameworks.

  • Establish strong governance policies and approval processes.

  • Act as thought leader on pay equity and analytics initiatives.

Compensation

  • Oversee salary structures job evaluation incentives and equity reviews.

  • Lead preparation for statutory reporting.

  • Provide expert guidance on highinflation markets complex market corrections and businesscritical role reviews.

  • Partner with Corporate Compensation on global programs.

Benefits

  • Lead strategy across health retirement insurance wellbeing and allowances.

  • Drive benefits sustainability through vendor strategy and renewals.

  • Ensure compliant delivery of benefits in environments with complex legal tax and employeerelations requirements.

  • Partner with Corporate Benefits on global initiatives.


Stakeholder Partnership

  • Serve as the primary APAC C&B advisor to HR and business leaders.

  • Engage employee unions and representatives where required.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a multi-country C&B team.

  • Foster engagement capability development and succession readiness.

Financial Management

  • Own APAC C&B departmental and project budgets and deliver within financial frameworks.

Qualifications & Experience

Education
Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.

Experience

  • 1012 years of progressive C&B experience with regional scope.

  • Proven leadership in complex matrixed organizations.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of APAC labor markets and regulations preferred.

  • Strong analytical financial and stakeholder management skills.

Languages

  • English required; additional Asian languages preferred.

Acts as a strategic leader with strong judgment balancing compliance cost and employee experience. Builds trust through transparency and rigor while developing diverse high-performing teams.
