Color Chemist I

We are looking for a Color Chemist I to join our team. As a Color Chemist I you will provide color matches in any PPG product line and to any type of color target and gain approval for customer use within the capability of the product line. You will also active participating in continuous improvement activities in the Color Team. You will report directly to the Project Manager. You will be based onsite at the PPG PJ Plant.

Main Responsibilities

• Demonstrate perfect colour vision and meet the minimum standard of colour discrimination

• Describe and measure a colour difference between two shades of the same colour.

• Retain and apply a working knowledge of the colour characteristics of solid colour basics across all products and be able to apply the knowledge together with instrumental colour matching techniques to achieve colour matches.

• Ability to judge when a target colour cannot be matched within the existing capabilities of a product line and agree on a course of action with a colour assessor.

• Work competently and unassisted outside the laboratory environment.

• You will contribute to the assessment of new products and colour-matching techniques working with personnel from research and development activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering Chemistry or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in color matching

• Work largely unsupervised to meet team targets

• You will need to work in a team with flexibility and good communication skills.

• Excellent IT skills

• Competency needs to be achieved within 12 months.

• Excellent housekeeping standards
