Leicestershire County Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance Team. This is a critical role that ensures the Council remains compliant with UK GDPR and maintains the highest standards of information assurance and data protection.
About the Role
As a Senior Information Governance Officer you will work across the organisation to provide specialist advice support strategic projects develop policies and strengthen compliance practices. You will help shape and deliver the Councils information governance vision and play an essential part in ensuring safe lawful and effective use of information.

Key responsibilities:
Develop and deliver information and technology strategy ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
Provide expert advice on information governance UK GDPR compliance and information assurance.
Contribute or lead multi-disciplinary projects involving information governance considerations.
Develop update and promote policies standards and information sharing agreements.
Monitor compliance manage incidents and coordinate investigations into data breaches.
Advise senior managers officers and partners on IG matters that influence service delivery.
Ensure effective contract and agreement management relating to information governance.

About You
You will be an experienced information governance professional with strong knowledge of UK GDPR information assurance and policy development. You will be confident working with stakeholders at all levels and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential criteria:
Relevant degree or equivalent or experience of assisting in developing designing and delivering an effective information / technology policy information governance or information compliance service appropriate to the above qualification level.
Experience of supporting the development designing and delivering of a quality information and/or technology service in accordance with the strategic business need of the organisation and external partners.
Experience of leading on or managing information policy projects OR of responsibility for investigations into information security/compliance incidents and issues negotiating actions and leading on continuous improvement
Experience of presenting and providing support advice and recommendations across the organisation and amongst partners
Identifying developing and delivering training to support staff development as required
Experience of capturing developing and implementing requirements for information/technology policy and information assurance work packages
Basic understanding of County Council services and opportunities for efficiency and transformational change.
