Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $198500.00 - $268000.00. In addition this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors including but not limited to: scope of role level of experience education accomplishments internal equity budget and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

  • Accreditation & Compliance:Serves as a primary liaison to theAccreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Oversees site visits self-studies and theAnnual Institutional Review (AIR).
    • In collaboration with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) is responsible for major regulatory and other administrative responsibilities associated with medical education.
    • Is responsible for the overall educational quality accreditation compliance and operational management of all residency or fellowship programs.
      • Ensures appropriate administrative staff to meet key duties required of each of each educational program coordinator including (but not limited to)developing curriculum evaluating faculty and residents monitoring duty hours ensuring resident supervision and managing program resources.
      • Manages recruitment cycles throughERAS SF Matchand theNRMP Match.
      • Manages strategic efforts for education program expansion outside HSS main campus.
    • Keeps leadership alert to critical needs and issues at individual programs that may require special resources or attention.
    • Establishes a process to leverage program management insights across all programs to identify best practices and share opportunities to improve program performance through formal and informal forums.
  • Committee Leadership:Manages theGraduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) which is led by the DIO collaborating with the DIO to set institutional policies and monitor program performance.
    • Manages activities related to the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) in partnership with the DIO and related subcommittees supporting quality improvement program evaluation faculty development and education wellness etc.
  • Fiscal Management:Develops and monitors multimillion-dollar budgets including resident salaries faculty time and educational resources. Maximizes educational funding through Medicare reimbursement (IRIS) reporting.
    • In this capacity the Executive Director is responsible for the development and monitoring of all GME budgets expense control process improvement and problem solving involved in the linking of institutional educational needs to sound fiscal planning.
    • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting business and educational requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions as needed.
    • Works with the DIO and hospital leadership teams to identify opportunities to maximize return on investment for individual programs and the hospital.
    • Oversee CMS reimbursement documentation cost containment and ROI maximization.
  • Operational Oversight:Supervises GME office staff and program coordinators.
    • Direct day-to-day administrative operations develop long-term GME goals and lead new program development.
    • Works with leadership to develop support efforts to market education programs. Identify market niche opportunities and organize efforts to promote programs.
    • Provides long term support to create a hospital - wide framework for innovation. Acts as a resource for residents and other trainees as needed.
    • Leads directs trains and coaches GME accreditation and education staff while ensuring work assignments align with skills and workload.
    • Responsible for maintaining staff competencies improving those competencies communicating job expectations assigning work coaching evaluating performance compensation disciplining and termination of employment.
    • Oversee program coordinators and directors facilitate recruitment manage resident work hours and evaluate program performance.
  • Trainee & Faculty Support:Oversees resident onboarding wellness initiatives and disciplinary/remediation processes. Coordinates faculty development to ensure teaching excellence.
    • Works across programs to share curriculums and didactic material that can enhance education.
    • Act as a liaison between hospital leadership faculty and residents.
  • Strategic Planning:Collaborates with the DIO to identify opportunities for new programs or changes in trainee complements based on workforce needs.
    • The Executive Director incorporates best practice and evidenced-based research in program development with a focus on standardization compliance and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum.
    • Provides strategic guidance to individual programs and HSS regarding the development of new programs expanding specialty training and expansion of existing programs. Directs the development of new medical education programs across the enterprise.
  • Administrative executive lead for the SLTC: responsible for overseeing developing and implementing educational programs that train residents fellows and surgeons using human cadaveric tissue anatomical models or advanced virtual reality technology. This programing focuses on enhancing operative techniques improving patient safety and ensuring competency in surgical procedures.
    • Manages the laboratory facility:
      • Operational Management:Directs team that manages day-to-day lab activities including scheduling inventory control and maintenance of surgical equipment PPE and chemicals.
      • Responsible for the development and monitoring of all SLTC budgets expense control process improvement and problem solving involved in the linking of institutional educational needs to sound fiscal planning.
      • Donor Program Administration:Coordinates the acquisition documentation storage and final respectful disposal of cadavers complying with state anatomical boards.
      • Safety & Compliance:Ensures adherence to all relevant regulatory agencies including (but not limited to) OHSA CDC New York State and institutional health regulations maintaining safety manuals and SDS documentation.
      • Maintains accreditation through the American College of Surgeons and all other relevant accrediting organizations.
      • Educational Support:Facilitates surgical workshops programs and labs for residents faculty and external partners.
      • Staff Supervision:Hires trains and supervises lab technicians dieners and work-study students.
    • Creates and leads surgical curricula ensures the availability of educational resources and often provides hands-on one-on-one instruction to trainees. Designing training sessions that prepare surgeons for operating room scenarios.
