Job Description:

The Head of Business Development US Credit Cards & Unsecured Lending will be responsible for setting and executing business development strategy for TDs US Credit Card business. The leader will drive transformative growth and build on TDs momentum by establishing and executing clear strategies and goals to increase the scale and profitability of TDs card business.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent setting goals developing staff managing employee performance and compensation decisions promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions as required
  • Works with multiple stakeholders lead the identification assessment and implementation of innovative strategic commercial opportunities for the profitable growth of the TDs North American Credit Card business. Categories include sales finance private label cobrand and related financial/payment products
  • Develops strategies and action plans to acquire new business opportunities that will drive significant growth in customers receivables revenues and earnings while adhering to TDs risk appetite statement
  • Represents TD to the potential partners and other market place participants. Represent CCUL in strategic assessments ventures and initiatives
  • Identifies cultivates and close critical relationships with potential strategic partners. Ensures that we have relationships that are both deep and broad
  • Builds TDs presence and credibility in the credit card partnership market
  • Manages complex contract negotiation and work with legal counsel as required
  • Leads and builds a high quality business development team
  • Oversees/participates in the development of comprehensive presentations summarizing a given initiative and its strategic and financial impacts for Senior Executive and the Board as may be applicable. Works with internal partners / multiple stakeholders including Investor Relations Legal on external presentations
  • Serves as a key member of the CCUL team that sets the companys strategic direction
  • Manages multiple concurrent business development initiatives
  • Is the driving force in the development of the work ethic culture and values of the business development group. Through personal example establish the style and approach that is consistent with TDs leadership profile

Education & Experience:

  • 4 Year degree or equivalent experience required
  • 10 Years related experience
  • Superior sales skills with proven history of successfully attracting and developing new client relationships
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes creatively with a wide variety of customers in order to obtain maximize mutual benefit
  • Demonstrated excellent management organizational and leadership skills required with ability to train and motivate sales team effectively
  • Strong knowledge of credit card industry practices products and services including knowledge of competitors typical contract terms and the credit decision process
  • Analytical ability to develop understanding of client business and financials
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement strategies to meet the needs of the Company
  • Proven ability to manage several large projects simultaneously
  • Ability to objectively assess how actions taken and decisions made will effect each department within the business.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
