Join our Environmental Resource Bureau
Within the Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) Bureau youll have the opportunity to conduct professional level technical and administrative engineering work which supports the ERP Compliance Section. The successful candidate will spend the majority of time in post-permitting compliance; however this role will involve close coordination with the ERP Evaluation Section. Applies knowledge of engineering principles project management scientific findings and environmental laws to evaluate plan design and complete water related projects to ensure compliance of regulations and policies.

Compensation:
Engineer 2: $61254.00 - $84422.50
Engineer 3: $66180.00 - $91203.00
The starting salary range for the Engineer positionreflects the minimum to 50% of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
Essential Functions
- Ensure activities are brought into compliance with the state and District rules. This includes the transfer of construction permits to the operation phase permit condition violations expired permits and unauthorized construction activities.
- Work closely with Regulatory Support staff (administrative and field services staff) to accomplish these tasks as outlined in the rules procedures and guidelines.
- Travel to site meetings in designated District counties.
- Participates in ERP Bureau projects under the direction of the ERPCompliance Manager as assigned. Participates in departmental activities and performs other duties as necessary.
- The District plays a critical emergency management role before during and after major storm events and/or in conjunction with the overall emergency management strategy operations and recovery for the State of Florida. The employee therefore may be required to perform duties as assigned before during and after major storm events and emergency situations such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies. Such duties may include the employees normal work functions or other emergency support functions as determined necessary by the District.
Working Conditions
In-office:Standard office environment and equipment such as personal computer copier etc. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding and driving) with one or both hands and feet is required.
In-field: Work performed in the field may often be in remote and undeveloped areas of the District under adverse weather conditions. Travel and some outdoor labor may be required. May be exposed to extremes in elements temperature and humidity and to a variety of pests including mosquitoes and ticks. Must be able to able to bend lift carry and reach above shoulder level. May occasionally require the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle for extended periods some driving may be in off-road (4x4) accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including on nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.
Required Credentials for Engineer
Engineer 2
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering Environmental Engineering Civil Engineering or related field
- Two (2) years related work experience
- Valid drivers license
Engineer 3
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering Environmental Engineering Civil Engineering or related field
- Four (4) years related work experience
- Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
- Valid drivers license

Additional Details
This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday out of either the Brookville FL office however some remote work may be available after training. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
