What Youll Do:

The Role:

Stewards perform routine maintenance on Trustees properties caring for the fields trails gardens structures trailhead parking areas and other natural and cultural features. Day-to-day operations include a variety of tasks including mowing lawn areas trimmingbrush trash cleaningmaintainingwalking trails and engaging visitors. This position providesgreat experiencein thelogisticsof park management natural resources conservation wildlife management landscaping and other related fields. This is a full-time seasonal positionfromroughlyMay/June- November working40 hoursper positionis based atNotchviewReservation in Windsor MA but will travel to other properties throughoutWestern MA.

Specifically youll:

  • Performroutinemaintenance of landscapes including mowing fields and lawns tree and shrub careinvasive species controland brush removal
  • Construct andmaintainparking areas fences and trails.
  • Maintainbuildings and structures including using carpentry tools paintbrush and other hand tools.
  • Removetrash and litter.
  • Work with volunteers on property needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

This is alimited termnon-exemptpositionworking approximately40hoursper weekreporting directly tothe Senior Regional StewardshipManager.



Requirements

What Youll Need:

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with the public.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Provenabilityto complete assigned tasks and projects meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience using commercial grade landscape equipment (mowers/string trimming/etc.).
  • Experience with safe use of chainsaws tractors and other heavy equipment is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of The Trustees of Reservations.
  • The ability to work in all weather conditionslift upto 40 pounds push and pull heavyobjectsand climb ladders isrequired.
  • Ability to obtainDOTphysical card within30 days.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current authorization to work in the United States a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
  • A valid drivers license as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees driving policy.
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
