REPORTS TO: Director Event Operations

STATUS: Full-Time; Exempt

Your role as Manager Event Operations:

You will participate in the execution and fulfillment of all Petco Park events from an operational perspective including all Padres home baseball games and any/all Internal events functions and/or promotions associated with Padres home games; any organizational-related on-site or off-site events set-up and break addition you will participate in the execution of large-scale non-baseball events including but not limited to concerts and other events sold by the Padres Special Events Department. The Manager is instrumental in the recruitment hiring training managing and development of the Event Crew including the Reserves the absence of the Director Event Operations the Manager serves as the point of contact for the Event Operations Department for Padres games internal and non-baseball events.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

BASEBALL & EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures operational requirements as stated in the Homestand Production Notes (for baseball events) and Event Orders (non-baseball events) are implemented executed and fulfilled appropriately and correctly as communicated per each document from inception to completion
  • Manages Event Crew and Ball Girls for Padres games and non-baseball events
  • Conducts effective and efficient Event Crew and Event Medical briefing prior to any Padres games and/or Petco Park event
  • Assists with promotional item distribution including gate allocation and inventory management
  • Serves as a liaison for Corporate Partner activations communications fostering partnerships and ensuring seamless collaboration
  • Supports all internal/community events including but not limited to the Annual Padres Winter and Summer Blood Drives High School Home Run Derby & All-Star Game and the Annual Turkey Drive

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:

  • Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word Excel Outlook etc. and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier laser printer telephone and computer
  • Possess strong communication skills both written and verbal and effectively work well with others in a collaborative respectful manner
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
  • Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion integrity and accountability
  • Maintain consistent punctual and reliable attendance

You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • 4-year Bachelors degree or education equivalent in Operations Event Management or other closely related field
  • Minimum of 2-4 years supervisory experience in a sports or entertainment facility with emphasis on Operations Guest Services and Crowd Management/Safety
  • Demonstrated success in the recruitment selection supervision evaluation and training of part-time employees
  • Proven track record of results in managing large scale events including concerts sporting events and/or other large public gatherings
  • Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
  • Able to work flexible hours including Padres home games evenings weekends holidays and extended hours as needed
  • Able to travel as needed
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds
  • As a condition of employment you must successfully complete all post-offer pre-employment requirements including but not limited to a background check

Salary and additional compensation:

Per the California pay transparency law the base salary range for this full-time position is $70304 to $72000. As a candidate for this position your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience education job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
