Purpose:
The Associate Director will work and live within the state of Texas preferably in the Austin Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston regions to achieve a high level of visibility for the College; identify and recruit well-matched candidates for admission; build relationships with high school counselors educational consultants and alumni; and assist students and their parents in applying for admission and financial aid. The Associate Director will also be a key member of the Regional Recruitment Team assisting and supporting the overall regional recruitment efforts of the College.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage daily with prospective students and their parents via phone text email video and in-person to achieve a high level of interaction and build sustained relationships through the college search. Perform a specific number of outbound touch points per day.
2. Assist students in assessing match/fit and how Knox could help to achieve their educational goals.
3. Work with families to understand college costs affordability and how to apply for scholarships and financial aid.
4. Build relationships with high school counselors and educational consultants via phone text email video and in-person.
5. Make in-person and virtual presentations about Knox within the assigned recruitment market conduct interviews represent Knox at college fairs high school information sessions and other events. Participate in the recruitment activities of area high school guidance counselor organizations local ACACs and regional admission consortium organizations.
6. Perform a holistic review of applications for admission including the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of transcripts standardized test scores essays and written submissions recommendations and other evidence of student preparation match and fit with Knox College. Application materials are reviewed digitally within the Slate admission and document management system; evaluation of applicants is done by completing forms within that system.
7. Year-round recruitment of assigned Texas regional market and other assigned territories and additional recruitment travel up to 10-12 weeks per year visiting high schools attending college fairs hosting information sessions meeting with school counselors community based organization advisors and independent educational consultants and conducting admission interviews for prospective students; work evenings and weekends as needed for events and to engage with students and parents. Hours can be long and varied. This position often entails working evenings and weekends a minimum of 15-20% of the time.
8. Work alongside a direct supervisor to achieve application and enrollment goals for each assigned market.
9. Travel to campus when needed to support and assist the Campus Visit Team with large visit programs and prospective student visits to campus participate in department training and retreat days and other priorities as assigned.
10. The Associate Director will serve in a leadership capacity for the entire admissions counseling team by leading training and meetings as needed. The Associate Director will also manage two-three projects for the entire Admissions Office - examples might include Slate Communications texting campaigns counselor relations or financial aid appeal processing.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional interpersonal communication and public speaking abilities; and talent for developing relationships with multiple constituencies including students families school counselors community based organization advisors and independent educational consultants.
Experience with and passion for creating virtual engagement social media video digital communications and online events.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to organize and prioritize work manage complex tasks and complete multiple projects on time while working independently and having the resourcefulness flexibility and initiative to adapt to constant change.

Ability to live within a specified recruitment market as well as travel up to 10-12 weeks per year.

Standards of Performance:
The person in this position will be performing a satisfactory job when the following standards are met.
The office leadership is satisfied with the support the Associate Director is providing to meet the overall recruitment goals and special projects of the admission office; the overall performance of the Associate Director meets standards defined by the Director of Regional Recruitment.
The Associate Director takes the initiative with assigned responsibilities seeks out and acts upon constructive feedback assists and supports other office staff with their duties as needed maintains a positive attitude and works effectively as a member of the overall office team.
Target numbers are met or exceeded for applicants and enrolled students within assigned markets; professional networks are developed; academic quality and diversity goals are achieved within these markets.
Inquiry applicant and enrolled student prospect management file review and data system assignments as well as tasks in assigned special projects are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner; tasks and assignments are completed on or before deadline dates set by the office leadership.
Email phone calls and other requests from prospective students parents alumni and college staff are responded to in a professional and timely manner both when working on campus and when traveling.
The specified number of outbound touchpoints per day are consistently met.
Meetings and interviews with prospective students families educators and other college constituents are conducted in a professional manner and as assigned including meetings and interviews on campus off-campus by phone and during special events and programs.
Recruitment travel is well-planned organized economically frugal and implemented as required by office leadership; complete itineraries are provided before trip departure and include full schedules of day and evening high school and educator visits college fairs interviews and other appointments.
Assigned projects and additional tasks are handled proactively and are well-documented for future planning and reference.

Previous experience and familiarity with the assigned regional recruitment market.
Summary Pay Range: Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market location job-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that pay is only one component of total compensation.
