Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Location: Hyannis MA 02601 Job Type: Contract (26 Weeks with possibility of extension)
Schedule:
Shift: Evening Shift (3:00 PM 11:00 PM rotating)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical teams by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned sterilized and ready for use. This role is critical in maintaining patient safety and infection control standards within a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
Decontamination:
Use appropriate methods and solutions to decontaminate instruments and equipment
Sort disassemble clean rinse and disinfect instruments
Follow proper PPE and infection control protocols
Instrument Preparation:
Assemble instrument trays using count sheets
Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality
Properly wrap package label and protect instruments
Sterilization Process:
Select and operate appropriate sterilization methods (steam ETO Sterrad etc.)
Document and verify sterilization loads and biological testing
Ensure compliance with sterilization standards and procedures
Storage & Distribution:
Store and handle sterile supplies appropriately
Retrieve and distribute surgical instruments and supplies efficiently
Utilize preference cards and track equipment usage
Equipment Operation:
Operate sterilizers washer/disinfectors ultrasonic cleaners and related equipment
Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of SPD equipment
Inventory Control:
Assist with ordering stocking and monitoring surgical supplies
Report shortages or issues promptly
General Duties:
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Work independently with minimal supervision
Participate in training meetings and continuing education
Provide excellent service to internal teams and patients
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing (SPD) Aide/Technician
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
Basic computer skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of medical terminology (course or exam preferred)
One of the following:
Anatomy & Physiology coursework (high school level or higher)
Relevant certification or exam completion
3 years of recent SPD experience
