Project Safety Lead

Location:Central London

Salary:80000 - 100000 benefits

A leading construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Safety Lead to take ownership of health safety and environmental performance on a prestigious high-profile project in central London.

This is a key site-based leadership role working closely with the Project Director delivery teams and supply chain to ensure HSE is embedded at every stage of the project lifecycle.

The role will suit a proactive and visible HSE professional who can influence at all levels drive standards on site and operate confidently within a fast-paced technically complex construction environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Safety Lead:

• Act as the lead HSE representative on site supporting the project leadership team
• Drive the implementation of HSE strategy ensuring standards are consistently met and exceeded
• Review and challenge construction phase plans RAMS and safe systems of work
• Carry out regular site inspections audits and assurance activities identifying areas for improvement
• Lead incident investigations ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
• Engage with subcontractors and site teams to promote a strong proactive safety culture
• Lead a team of HSE Advisors
• Monitor HSE performance providing clear reporting and insight to senior stakeholders
• Ensure effective contractor management inductions and ongoing compliance

The Project Safety Lead will have:

• Proven experience in a lead HSE role on large-scale projects valued at 100m
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) ideally working towards or holding CMIOSH
• Strong background in complex high-value construction environments (e.g. data centres commercial fit out infrastructure)
• Confident communicator able to engage from site level through to senior leadership
• Proactive solutions-focused and comfortable operating in a fast-paced project environment
• Ideally have the ability to start asap
