A leading construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Safety Lead to take ownership of health safety and environmental performance on a prestigious high-profile project in central London.
This is a key site-based leadership role working closely with the Project Director delivery teams and supply chain to ensure HSE is embedded at every stage of the project lifecycle.
The role will suit a proactive and visible HSE professional who can influence at all levels drive standards on site and operate confidently within a fast-paced technically complex construction environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Safety Lead:
Act as the lead HSE representative on site supporting the project leadership team
Drive the implementation of HSE strategy ensuring standards are consistently met and exceeded
Review and challenge construction phase plans RAMS and safe systems of work
Carry out regular site inspections audits and assurance activities identifying areas for improvement
Lead incident investigations ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
Engage with subcontractors and site teams to promote a strong proactive safety culture
Lead a team of HSE Advisors
Monitor HSE performance providing clear reporting and insight to senior stakeholders
Ensure effective contractor management inductions and ongoing compliance
The Project Safety Lead will have:
Proven experience in a lead HSE role on large-scale projects valued at 100m
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) ideally working towards or holding CMIOSH
Strong background in complex high-value construction environments (e.g. data centres commercial fit out infrastructure)
Confident communicator able to engage from site level through to senior leadership
Proactive solutions-focused and comfortable operating in a fast-paced project environment
Ideally have the ability to start asap
