Job Summary

Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Parking & Transportation Services and the Parking Supervisor the Parking Officer is responsible for enforcing the Universitys Parking Policy in university owned parking areas and the surrounding community maintaining the Universitys Rental Fleet assisting with the campus shuttle service acting as a customer service agent for the department and assisting with special events. The Officer will have an assigned shift Wednesday Thursday 9:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m. and Friday Saturday 7:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Some nights and weekends will be required for special events or to cover other shifts. Schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities
Patrol Parking Lots and Enforce University Parking Policy. Patrol parking lots and structures and perform traffic control in parking areas. Provide information to the university community and visitors on where to park location of buildings and departments parking regulations etc. As well as updating information on the website and social media accounts. Survey parking areas for space availability and appropriate use correct parking of vehicles valid parking permits and general security using License Plate Recognition technology. Issue parking citations or warnings for vehicles parked in violation of the universitys Parking Policy. Follow up with Smarter Cities Solutions tech support when there are issues with the parking enforcement equipment. Keep parking supervisor appraised. Do monthly maintenance and safety inspections of all parking areas. Parking Equipment and Parking Systems Monitoring. Oversee parking areas for VIPs and special events and ensure adequate parking spaces. Post equipment to reserve parking as requested for meetings and events. Monitor and maintain parking equipment including signage delineators and barricades. Parking Meters trouble shoot problems respond to service alerts jammed credit cards bills no connectivity and low paper. Monitor parking space availability system and adjust when counts are not accurate. Notify supervision when counts are off. Monitor lot occupancy and deploy signage to redirect vehicles to additional parking. Participate in the preparation of periodic scheduled and ad hoc parking system reports include gathering data and providing recommendations for system usage. Assist with transportation coordination activities. Perform weekly safety inspections of fleet vehicles track fleet maintenance and shuttle them to the repair shop as necessary. Prepare forms and keys for departments using fleet vans. Process Vehicle Trip Reports by inputting the data in the computer. Fuel fleet vehicles as needed.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma with a minimum of one-year professional experience in parking/transportation operations. Mechanical skills to assess vehicle and parking equipment operations and perform routine maintenance. Skill to adapt to changes within the organization. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain composure when dealing with unusual circumstances and resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues. Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork. Computer skills preferably Microsoft Office in the use of word processing spreadsheets internet social media website editing and e-mail applications Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise discretion and judgment on matters of significance. Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Communications and interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with diverse constituents. Technical skills to learn and use parking tools and applications. Analytical skills to observe assess and record parking conditions and escalate matters as needed. Must have a valid California License. Must have 3 years minimum license driving experience or be 21 years of age or older and have/maintain a clean driving record.
