Schedule:
Full-time (40 hours per week)
Monday - Friday 8-hour shifts
Location:
We service patients in the community - this includes Hampden Hampshire and Franklin counties.
Summary:
The music therapist is a board-certified clinician who has the responsibility accountability and authority for providing coordinated comprehensive music therapy services in accordance with the objectives policies standards and procedures of Baystate Home Health and Hospice Pediatric Palliative Care Network (PPCN) Program
Job Responsibilities:
1) Establish document and evaluate clinical music therapy goals and objectives to address the psychosocial needs of patients siblings and parents enrolled within the Pediatric Palliative Care Program.
2) Plan organize implement adapt and evaluate music therapy interventions designed to positively influence patients psychosocial needs.
3) Create and implement interdisciplinary co-treatment with other pediatric palliative care providers to support the psychosocial needs of patients and families.
4) Integrate the most appropriate music therapy approach (i.e. behavioral developmental improvisational neurological medical) into the patients music therapy treatment planning
5) Have a high level of clinical musicianship by playing adapting and selecting appropriate musical and non-musical equipment for all music therapy experiences
6) Supervise music therapy students (i.e. practicum interns) and maintain current clinical music therapy practice through review of current music therapy research.
7) Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings staff & community meetings and education
8) Provide legacy interventions and bereavement support for patients and families regarding anticipatory grief; at the time of death and through follow-up grief interventions.
9) Serve as representative on relevant committees in collaboration with Hospice and Baystate Childrens Hospital.
10) Collaborate with community service partners n the care of pediatric palliative care patients (ie: early intervention school etc)
11) Communicate clinically relevant music therapy information effectively to a variety of professional disciplines in the form of oral written in-services conferences and other community sharing opportunities
12) Proficient in musical instruments such as keyboard guitar or percussion instruments. Compose arrange or adapt music for music therapy treatments.
Required Work Experience:
1) 5 years of music therapy experience working with children who have various needs
Preferred Work Experience:
1) 5 years experience in areas such as pediatrics special education palliative/hospice care and/or social services

Typically a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidates relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
