Long-Term Substitute Position: Kindergarten
St. John School is a fully accredited PreK-Grade 8 school with over 500 students in the Greenwood
neighborhood of Seattle. We have two kindergarten classes each led by a full-time teacher and an
instructional assistant. Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelors degree have at least two years of
experience working with elementary-aged children (preferably in a school setting) and be practicing
Catholics.
The position follows a Monday-Friday schedule from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM.

Position Overview:
St. John School is seeking a caring enthusiastic and faith-filled Long-Term Substitute Teacher for our
Kindergarten classroom. This individual will support the academic social emotional and spiritual
development of our young learners while maintaining continuity in a nurturing structured
environment rooted in Catholic values.
Key Responsibilites:
Curriculum and Instruction:
Align curriculum with Washington State Standards
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners
Intregrate faith into daily instruction
Support early learning in literacy math science social studies religion and socialemotional
growth
Classroom management:
Model and encourage social emotional skills and regulation
Manage classroom routines schedules and materials efficiently
Maintain positive behavior supports
Foster a warm welcoming and developmentally appropriate classroom
Child observation and assessment:
Responsible for formative and summative assessments on a routine basis
Responsible for facilitating parent conferences at least once a year more as needed
Complete report cards three times a year
Communication and collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other kindergarten and primary department teachers
Clear communication and provide direction for instructional assistant
Timely and clear communication to families
Collaborate with school administration and student support staff as needed
Work collaboratively with the Office for Catholic Schools as needed
Responsible for writing and posting weekly communication letter and lesson plans
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Professional development:
Attend annual in-service training and bi-annual retreats and professional development
events
Additional Professional Responsibilities:
Attend weekly staff and department meetings
Supervise students in various locations including outdoor recess field trips and during
transitions
Salary:
Hourly Rate Range: $39.35-$47.16 depending on experience
