Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Administrative Manager the Medical Assistant for the Lung Transplant will perform a range of duties in line with the standard work of a medical assistant and includes coordinating patient flow taking of vital signs and providing secretarial support to the practice by answering the phone scheduling appointments and other office work as needed.The Medical Assistant must be able to organize priorities complete tasks manage confidential patient information; schedule appointments review and document diagnostic testing and interact with patients in a professional friendly manner consistent with their needs.

Monday: 7:30 AM 5:00 PM
Wednesday: 7:30 AM 1:00 PM
Thursday: 7:30 AM 1:00 PM
Qualifications
- Obtains and records vital signs weights blood pressure O2 usage along with other documentation deemed necessary prior to seeing the provider.
- Routes faxed to appropriate personnel and enter external lab ranges into epic from lab reports
- Reviews and reconciles the patients current medications list.
- Alerts the provider when the patient is ready and communicates pertinent clinical information.
- Provides care appropriate to age group of patients in practice setting and documents data per practice protocols.
- Set up clean and stock exam rooms.
- Adheres to hand hygiene and standard precautions guidelines.
- Assists with printing letters scanning medical information filing faxing and communicating with outside facilities and patients.
- Complete medication and radiology prior authorizations as necessary
- Completes office work as needed such as answering telephones and scheduling patient appointments.
- Perform standardized 6Minute Walk Tests to assess functional exercise capacity in patients.
- Perform spirometry to evaluate lung function including FEV1 FVC and other key parameters
- Perform other duties as assigned
