The Department of Biological Sciencesat California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time GA for Summer Research.
Purpose of Position: To assist faculty with various professional and technical duties supporting research within the Biology Department.
Under immediate supervision the Graduate Assistant assists a regular faculty member or the teaching staff with various professional and technical duties associated generally with the subjects or programs in which the assistant is doing graduate work. This work should not take precedence over the successful completion of the graduate degree program by the student in a timely manner.
List of Duties
Assist faculty with professional and non-teaching duties
Provide technical assistance to faculty member
Ability to assist faculty in the conduct of special projects/research within the discipline
Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline in which assigned
Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment
Ability to supervise assist and train students
General Minimum Qualifications of the Position:
Registration in a CSU graduate degree program
Equivalent to the completion of the requirements for a bachelors degree
Enrolled in courses at CSUSM toward the completion of the graduate degree during the appointment period
Passing of oral presentation as apart of your Masters thesis proposal for Biology
Per the California State Universitys Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience.
