Job Summary

Our client the Boys and Girls Club of Boone County is growing and adding a Resource Development Director to the team!

The Resource Development Director leads all fundraising and development efforts to advance the mission of empowering young people to reach their full potential. This role is responsible for building sustainable revenue streams that support youth programs mentorship opportunities and community impact initiatives.

This is a highly hands-on role that manages a portfolio of donors and prospects while building systems and strategies to grow annual philanthropic support. The Director serves as a key ambassador for the organization inspiring donors partners and stakeholders to invest in positive youth outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-channel fundraising strategy focused on supporting youth programs and services.
  • Set and achieve annual revenue goals across individual giving major gifts grants corporate partnerships and events.
  • Align fundraising priorities with programmatic needs including before and after-school programs leadership development teen programs and family engagement initiatives.
  • Build and manage a diversified revenue pipeline to support long-term sustainability
  • Partner with the CEO to articulate a compelling vision and case for support.

Major Gifts & Donor Engagement

  • Personally manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects.
  • Develop and execute strategies to secure 4- and 5-figure gifts.
  • Conduct regular donor meetings cultivation activities and direct solicitations.
  • Create and implement donor stewardship plans that deepen engagement and retention.
  • Strengthen the organizations case for support using data and outcomes.

Donor Communications & Storytelling

  • Lead the development of compelling communications that highlight measurable impact and youth success stories.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across campaigns proposals and donor materials.

Grant Strategy & Management

  • Research and pursue funding opportunities with third-party grant-writers from foundations and government sources that support youth services education and community development.
  • Oversee third-party grant-writer to submit high-quality grant proposals and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and track outcomes related to funded programs.

Corporate & Community Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local businesses schools and community organizations to support youth programming.
  • Secure sponsorships for youth initiatives events and campaigns.
  • Represent the organization in the community advocating for youth needs and opportunities.

Events & Campaigns

  • Plan and execute three major events annually (Gravy Chase run/walk Thanksgiving day Dunk! evening fundraiser and golf outing).
  • Lead annual giving campaigns including those during back-to-school year-end and summer-time.
  • Engage families alumni and volunteers in fundraising efforts.

Board & Volunteer Engagement

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to strengthen their role in fundraising and community connections.
  • Support Board member in identifying cultivating and soliciting donors.
  • Provide tools and training to Board members and volunteers to support donor engagement.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy across staff volunteers and stakeholders.

Systems & Operations

  • Ensure accurate donor data management and reporting in the CRM system.
  • Partner with administrative staff to maintain data integrity and reporting processes.
  • Track key performance indicators and adjust strategies based on results

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in nonprofit management communications education or related field (Masters preferred).
  • 5 years of experience in fundraising or development preferably in a youth-serving or community-based organization.
  • Demonstrated success in securing grants major gifts and corporate support.
  • Passion for youth development and commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to communicate impact to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with donor management systems (CRM).
  • Excellent organizational and relationship-building skills.
  • Boone County residence/experience a plus.

Work Environment & Expectations

Compensation

  • $80-$85000
  • Benefits include health insurance retirement plan paid time off and professional development.
