Senior Director Supplier Engineering

BUSINESS UNIT: Varian Semiconductor Equipment (VSE) Silicon Systems Group (SSG)

LOCATION: Gloucester MA

ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Supplier Engineering leads a global multidisciplinary technical organization responsible for building a resilient costeffective and innovationenabled supply chain. This role shapes and executes longrange strategies that enhance supply continuity scale engineering capability strengthen supplier partnerships across regions and ensure enterprise alignment. The position drives local and global collaboration enables cost transformation improves supplier readiness and builds the Best Known Methods (BKMs) library deployed across the enterprise.

A critical component of this role is the ability to present strategy to executive leadership influence direction and garner crossfunctional buyin across Engineering Supply Chain Operations Finance and Product organizations. Organization awareness and ability to influence others is crucial for this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment

Define and execute the multiyear strategy for Supplier Engineering aligned with BU priorities product roadmaps and Applieds global supply chain objectives.

Provide clear strategic direction to improve supply continuity supplier capability engineering quality and cost structure. Requires strong cross-functional alignment with goals and objectives of the Varian and GSC AOPs to enable corporate success.

Influence executive leadership through datadriven sourcing capability and riskmitigation recommendations.

Present longrange strategies risk models and capability roadmaps to executive leadership to secure support and resource alignment.

Supply Chain Resilience & LongRange Risk Mitigation

Develop and lead multisourcing strategies regional supply models technical capability roadmaps and Business Continuity Planning (BCP). This includes a strong Single Point of Failure (SPOF) strategy development and execution plan.

Drive proactive risk identification and escalation processes with Global Supply Chain.

CrossFunctional Collaboration & Influence

Collaborate extensively across Product Engineering NPI Commodity Management Operations Quality Program Management and Finance.

Lead crossfunctional steering teams to synchronize supplier strategies and decisionmaking.

Align global and local supply chain teams to ensure consistent communication and execution.

Drive organizational alignment and crossfunctional adoption of major initiatives.

Technical Leadership of the Engineering Organization

Lead and develop a highperformance engineering team responsible for increasing supplier capability manufacturability and technical problem resolution.

Establish technical standards methods and engineering expectations and dissemination into the organization.

Cost Reduction & Value Engineering

Support a robust costreduction strategy via shouldcost modeling specification refinement process optimization and produce re-design via DFM.

Enable and drive measurable yearoveryear total landed cost improvements to meet overall BU AOP metrics.

Best Known Methods (BKMs) Development & Dissemination

Build and scale a comprehensive BKMs portfolio including engineering standards supplier readiness frameworks and technical playbooks.

Drive adoption through structured deployment and global training. Dissemination of learnings is critical to this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

10 years of experience in Supplier Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Supply Chain Engineering Product Development or related fields.

Strong engineering foundation in semiconductor or highreliability systems.

Proven ability to lead and influence crossfunctional global teams.

Demonstrated results in supplier development resilience building and cost transformation.

Executive presence strong communication and strategic influence capabilities.

Experience presenting strategy to senior leadership and driving organizational alignment.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location hire grade job-related knowledge skills experience and with consideration of internal equity of our current team addition to a comprehensive benefits package candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program as applicable.

For all sales roles the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
