The Facility Maintenance Specialist oversees and executes general maintenance and repairs forall Food Bank facilities.


This position is a temporary-to-permanent role with the opportunity for full-time employment based on performance during the first 90 days.


Typical Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday


Job Responsibilities:

Facilitate organizational maintenance tasks (100%)

  • Utilizing the Work Order tool and input from supervisor Manager determine facility maintenance issues and organize priorities.
  • Conduct work in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Work with lead warehouse staff Facilities Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager at each branch to ensure facilities and equipment are maintained in acceptable working order.
  • Work with Facilities Manager to decide appropriate vendors and negotiate costs and obtain written estimates when applicable.
  • Ensure all powered tool equipment is kept in good working order and accounted for with operating instructions and provide training for staff.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and Food Bank standard operating procedures. Ensure all hazardous materials are kept in appropriate storage and any relevant SDS documentation is retrieved and filed appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • High school/GED required Post high school education strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude/skills.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a facility specialist or technician in a combined warehouse and office setting.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working in one of the following disciplines: plumbing HVAC and/or electrical
  • Strongly prefer certifications/licenses in one of the following disciplines: plumbing HVAC and electrical.
  • Must have a valid NC Class C Drivers License with a clean driving record.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Must believe in the mission of the organization.
  • Must be able to operate a scissor lift.

The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk reach with arms and hands climb balance and to stoop crouch or crawl.
