Position Summary and Scope of Service

*This is an indefinite term position subject to 24 hours notice*

Reporting to the Coordinator Foster Care Services and Home Share and consistent with the Mission Values and policies of the Case Supervisor is a critical role in ensuring the success of business and operations. The Case Supervisor works collaboratively with partnered programs while offering employees respectful customer service.

The Case Supervisor is responsible for managing the overall care and service provided to individuals placed in licensed foster homes and home shares within Community Services. The Case Supervisor manages services in accordance with the Mission and Values of St. Amant and provincial legislation and regulations. The Case Supervisor ensures services are provided in ways that:

- optimizes dignity self-determination and attainment of personal outcomes

- maximizes normalized environmental and lifestyle features

- incorporates high quality support and treatment; and

- includes educational vocational and recreational opportunities and outlets

The Case Supervisor monitors and supports licensed foster homes home shares and respite providers and may supervise and direct the staff providing supports for each person. The Case Supervisor may be required to provide direct care in the case of urgent or emergent situations. as part of an initiative entitled Meaningful Connections seeks to expand the culture of support (excellent caretaking) to include an intentional focus on equipping a person with the opportunities and skills to develop relationships. The goal of this initiative is to have people we support exploring and establishing relationships with people in the community.

Qualifications

Educational:

- Post-secondary education / training (certificate diploma or degree) in a relevant social science or human services field
- Current certification in CPR and Emergency First Aid
- Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Experience and training in Personal Outcome Measures is an asset

Professional:

- Minimum two years experience providing services for individuals with disabilities that require support to live in the community
- Previous experience in a management/supervisory capacity is required. Previous case-management experience would be an asset
- Familiarity with relevant legislation (Child & Family Services Act Vulnerable Persons Act) regulations (Foster & Approved Home licensing regulations) and standards (Foster Family Manual)
- Knowledge of the issues relating to providing services for people living with a disability: familiarity with current trends philosophies and best practice
- Experience conducting in-depth interviews and preparing detailed reports and previous experience conducting home studies and participating in the licensing process would be an asset
- Knowledge of Behaviour Management principles and experience working with individuals that display challenging behaviours
- Knowledgeable regarding the clinical services that may be incorporated into a treatment plan and able to make appropriate referrals and advocate for these services on behalf of people supported
- Familiar and proficient in a computerized work environment (Word Excel Outlook etc.)

- Have the emotional stability necessary to facilitate and model cooperative teamwork conflict resolution and problem solving in all interactions
- Able to participate in a rotational On-Call duty schedule
- Valid Manitoba Drivers License in good standing and access to a safe reliable vehicle
