Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our Food & Beverage Department on afull-time permanent basis located at Caulfield Racecourse.

In this role youll support the delivery of consistently high-quality food across all MRC venues. Youll help lead kitchen operations support the team and ensure every dish meets our high standards for quality presentation and service.

In The Saddle

  • Bring menus to life by preparing cooking and presenting high-quality well-presented dishes
  • Keep standards high across quality consistency and presentation
  • Ensure food safety and compliance requirements are met
  • Monitor food and labour costs supporting budget and waste control initiatives
  • Oversee stock receiving storage and kitchen organisation
  • Contribute to menu development including race day and function offerings
  • Supporting and mentoring the team with rostering training and day-to-day leadership


Your Track Record

  • Experience as a Sous Chef or similar ideally in high-volume function environment
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • Current Food Handler and First Aid certifications
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence others
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A sharp eye for detail and a passion for quality
  • A team player with a proactive hands-on approach
