Job Summary
Salary - 26436.80 - 27040 per annum (pro rata where applicable depending on experience)
Hours - Full time 40 hours per week (or part time by arrangement)
Contract - Permanent
Role Purpose
As an Early Years Practitioner you will deliver highquality care and education for children aged 05 in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Working as part of a room team you will plan and deliver meaningful play and learning experiences support every childs development and wellbeing and contribute to a safe inclusive and stimulating environment for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare and Learning
Plan deliver and evaluate engaging ageappropriate activities that support childrens interests development and early learning in line with EYFS.
Observe assess and record childrens progress; contribute to learning journals and share information with parents and room leaders.
Support daily routines including mealtimes sleep personal care and nappy changing ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Create a stimulating safe and welcoming environment that promotes independence and curiosity.
Safeguarding Health and Safety
Follow statutory safeguarding procedures report concerns promptly and contribute to a culture of vigilance and safety.
Maintain accurate records including registers accident and incident logs medication records and childrens files.
Adhere to health safety and infection control policies and support risk assessments for activities and the environment.
Partnerships with Parents and Carers
Build professional positive relationships with parents and carers; communicate clearly about childrens progress care routines and wellbeing.
Support family involvement in childrens learning and contribute to smooth settling transitions and handovers.
Teamwork and Professional Conduct
Work cooperatively with the room team and wider nursery staff to maintain high standards of practice and consistency of care.
Engage with supervision training and appraisals; demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
Be reliable adaptable and punctual; support colleagues during busy periods and contribute to rota planning as required.
Person Specification
Essential
Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (or equivalent) or working towards completion with relevant experience.
Proven experience of working with children aged 05 in a nursery preschool or similar setting.
Good knowledge of the EYFS and current early years practice.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children colleagues and families.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and willingness to undertake required checks.
Desirable
Paediatric First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake training.
Experience of working with children with additional needs and using inclusive practice.
Knowledge of observation and assessment systems such as online learning journals.
