NationwidesCloud Security Engineering (CSE)team is seeking ahands-on cloud engineer with a securityand automationmindsetto build and automate controls acrosscloud platforms. If you enjoy designing solutions writing code and using automation to solve complex problems at scale this role will give you the opportunity to deepen yourexpertiseinsecurityengineering CI/CD and multi-cloud guardrails.

Youllwork primarily withMicrosoft Azurewhile also contributing to initiatives inAmazon Web Services.Thisis a collaborativeroledefining implementing or maturing cloud controls to defend against current as well as emerging threats.

Whatyoulldo

As a contributing member of the Cloud Security Engineering team you will:

  • Design build andoperateautomated cloud controlsand services in AWS and Azure (e.g. serverless functionspolicy-as-code).

  • Implement and enhanceinfrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines(e.g.TerraformAWSCloudformationAWS CDK Azure Bicep GitHub Actions AWSCodeBuild Harness Azure DevOps) to standardize and scale deploymentsacross accounts and subscriptions.

  • Developreusable templates libraries and automation patternsthat make it easy forapplicationteams to adopt secure-by-default cloud configurations.

  • Build andmaintainvisibility and reportingfor cloud resources (accounts subscriptions instances containers services) through metrics alerts and dashboards.

  • Stay current oncloud security vulnerabilities patterns and standardsand translate them intoenterprisecontrols.

  • Partner with application and platform teams onvulnerability remediation and secure deployment patterns.

  • Collaborate witharchitecture andother security teams todesignand embedpreventive controlsinto cloud platforms and CI/CD workflows

  • Supportcompliance and governancerequirements for workloads migrating to or running in the cloud ensuring configuration and entitlement standards are met.

  • Implement and supportdata protection encryption logging and monitoringstrategies for cloud services products and data.

  • Troubleshoot and respond tocloud security incidents contributing to root cause analysis and automation of future preventative controls.

Required skills

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform(Azure and/or AWS; GCP orOCIa plus) including building and operatingapplicationworkloads or platform services.

  • Proficiencyinscripting or programmingin Python(preferred)or similar scriptinglanguagetobuild tools integrations andautomations.

  • Experience withCI/CD pipelines and deployment automation(e.g. GitHub Jenkins Harness Azure DevOps) including build test and release workflows.

  • Practical experience withinfrastructure-as-code(e.g. Terraform AWS CDK Azure Bicep ARM CloudFormation)and cloud provisioning automation

  • Familiarity with security concepts in one or more areas such asIAM vulnerability management data protection logging/monitoring network controls or encryption.

  • Strongcollaboration consulting and documentation skills including working with distributed engineering and security teams.

  • Demonstrated ability todesign refine and measureengineering processes and controls.

  • Understanding ofhow toevaluate adopt and responsibly apply AI-driven toolsto accelerate engineering and operations in a secure way.

Desired skills

  • Familiarity withsecurity or compliance frameworks(e.g. NIST CIS Benchmarks PCI DSS) and how they map to cloud controls.

  • Experience inarchitectureapplicationengineeringoroperationsfunctions related to cloud environments.

  • Understanding ofdefensive technologies(e.g. WAF IPS endpoint protection) and commoncloud attack patternsand mitigations.

  • Experience withlog analysis and observability platforms(e.g. SplunkCriblDatadog or similar).

  • Prior experiencesupporting audits or remediating audit findingsin cloud environments.

  • Technical experience in at least one foundational discipline:networking systems/servers or endpoint engineering.

The Technology Engineer delivers standard and custom supportable technology products based on Nationwides architectural standards technology roadmaps industry trends and business requirements. Youll be focused on collaboration data systems storage middleware network security and contact center technology products. Youre also accountable for the operational aspects and management for the above products in accordance with the business requirements and defined service level agreements (SLAs).

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates and implements standard builds/templates for all technology platforms.

  • Drives requirements to meet current and future needs tracks and reports capacity postures.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Analyzes reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues.

  • Implements capacity enhancements.

  • Designsstandardandcustomtechnologysolutionsfor businesspartnerprojects including pre-production testing performance tuning handoffs and certification.

  • Delivers technology/product optimization migrations and management including technology/product design planning power and environmental management.

  • Collaborateswithotherstodevelopmeaningfulmetricsthatdrivefact-baseddecisionson a givenproduct/environment/solution.

  • Conducts proactive system maintenance disaster recovery planning data backup and recovery as well as inventory configuration and utility product management.

  • Executes production engineering processes incident management root cause analysis problem management change management release management and knowledge management.

  • Provides production support for all technology platforms.

  • Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Technology Engineering Manager/Technology Product Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science management information systems or a related field is preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required but encouraged (i.e.: AWS Azure scripting and development languages delivery methods security).

Experience: Four yearsof experience withmoderatelycomplexintegrated solutions and an ability todevelop andmodify existing solutions for specialized needs. Experience with automation of solution configurations deployment and with system management processes and tools. Experience with concepts and solutions:IaaS PaaS SaaSand Package Solutions.

Knowledge Abilities and Skills: Strong communication skills knowledge of planning management and execution of Accelerated Solutions Deliver framework Information Security acumen. Influencing negotiating and priority setting is needed. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.

Other criteria including leadership skills competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and Human Resource Business Partner.
