Our Young Carers Team provides support to young carers in Leicestershire aged 11 years. As a team we are committed to supporting our amazing young carers and gaining their voice around their caring role and their lived experience. We work closely with partners to support young carers needs and awareness locally and across the county.

About the Role

As a Young Carers Youth Worker you will support children and young people who need extra help working closely with them and their families to understand their needs and plan the right support. This includes carrying out assessments delivering one-to-one interventions reviewing progress together and ending support in a positive planned way. Your work will be helping young carers build confidence resilience and independence while keeping accurate records and working safely within safeguarding and policy requirements.

Youll also help deliver creative and engaging group activities for young carers building trusting relationships that encourage participation and belonging. Working alongside other professionals youll act as an advocate and positive role model supporting families through challenges and helping reconnect relationships where needed. Youll be an active part of the Young Carers team contributing to service development attending meetings and supervision and playing a key role in keeping young people safe and supported.

The Youth & Justice Service is a dedicated service for children aged 11 who need support. We offer a wide range of non-statutory and statutory interventions to children who are experiencing difficulties and challenges where support cannot be provided by universal services alone. We have strong relationships with wider services & partnerships supporting children and their families to ensure that we can jointly deliver the best possible support and care.

About You

Please ensure that you cover all 7 points in your application and provide clear examples and evidence of how each point has been that do not demonstrate skills and experience will not be shortlisted.

  • Qualification level required NVQ Level 3 or above AND significant experience of working with children (11years) and families.
  • Knowledge and experience of case management and group activities with a strong commitment to helping young people have their voices heard and valued.
  • A good understanding of the challenges faced by young carers and their families including awareness of differing needs adverse childhood experiences and the impact of trauma.
  • Experience of capturing and representing the childs voice within assessments reports and case management records.
  • Evidence of planning and delivering creative flexible and innovative interventions tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
  • Proven ability to build positive collaborative relationships with a range of professionals to support young carers their families and those they care for.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection with experience of promoting childrens welfare in line with local and national policies and procedures.

All posts are essential car users you will need to hold a valid UK Drivers Licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
