Roadway Engineer

Job Summary
The Roadway Engineer supports the planning design and development of transportation infrastructure projects primarily focused on roadway improvements and new construction. This role applies professional engineering concepts and standard design practices to projects of moderate scope and complexity.
You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers while continuing to build your technical expertise and project delivery skills.
Key Responsibilities
Perform roadway design for transportation projects including alignments profiles grading cross sections and typical sections
Prepare and modify engineering drawings specifications calculations cost estimates and technical reports
Apply GDOT and local agency standards policies and procedures
Conduct quantity takeoffs and assist in cost analysis
Coordinate with traffic drainage structural and geotechnical disciplines
Support project managers in meeting schedule budget and quality objectives
Review design documents for compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices
Participate in internal project meetings and may interact with external clients and stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
9 years of experience in roadway design
Experience with GDOT projects preferred
Proficiency in MicroStation OpenRoads Designer or similar roadway design software
Knowledge of AASHTO and state roadway design standards
EIT certification required; PE license or progress toward licensure preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation Range:
