Location: Kennewick WA

Type: Non-Exempt Full Time

Anticipated Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00-6:30 occasional evenings and weekends for events and outreach.

Position Overview:

The Adult and Youth Grief Specialist plays a crucial role in providing compassionate bereavement support services to individuals and families within the community. The specialist takes a detail-oriented approach to supporting children youth adults and families navigating grief. Responsibilities include assisting with program coordination facilitating grief support groups for children and their guardians and ensuring that families and individuals receive appropriate bereavement support and group placement. This role also includes community outreach and engagement such as attending community events building and maintaining relationships with community partners and promoting awareness of Corks Place bereavement services. The Adult and Youth Grief Specialist assists in preparing and delivering grief kit materials to families and community partners when appropriate.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Associate degree in social work psychology human services or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  2. Experience working with diverse populations including individuals from different cultural ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  6. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold strict confidentiality.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of grief counseling theories techniques and interventions.
  8. Ability to support individuals and groups experiencing grief trauma and loss while maintaining emotional resilience and professional boundaries.
  9. Available to work evenings and weekends.
  10. 1Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license as driving is an essential function of this role. Must meet insurance eligibility requirements.
  11. This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen which includes cannabis testing in Washington State.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in social work psychology human services or related field.
  2. Bilingual in Spanish and English with the ability to speak read write and communicate effectively in both languages
  3. Experience facilitating groups for children youth adults and/or families.
  4. Experience working with children and families in a grief mental health or educational setting.
  5. Experience with community outreach public speaking or presenting to community partners.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $22.33/hour - $ 24.17/hour

Hiring Range: The starting pay range offered to new hires depending on experience and qualifications.

At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy we carefully establish pay ranges for our positions by taking various factors into account including education certifications knowledge skills experience internal equity and market conditions. These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

  2. Community Outreach: Participate in education and outreach activities to promote agency programs including hospice care advanced planning and bereavement services.
  3. Policy Compliance: Maintain knowledge of and comply with agency policies procedures and practices.
  4. Confidentiality: Protect patient and agency information per HIPAA guidelines. Only access information on a need-to-know basis.
  5. Transportation: Maintain reliable personal transportation. Maintain a valid drivers license and vehicle insurance per state requirements.
  6. Health Requirements: Satisfy state and agency health requirements by providing proof of immunization declinations or approved accommodations as applicable.
  7. Screenings: Pass criminal background and drug screenings.
  8. Physical Demands: Meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.(see attached physical requirements)
  9. Training and Orientation: Complete agency and departmental orientation and required training programs.
  10. Continuing Education: Complete ongoing education policy reviews and training be designated deadlines.
