GENERAL DUTIES:

Serves as the Districts subject matter expert (SME) for all employee benefits programs. This role provides both expert-level technical oversight of all benefits functions of research and recommendations regarding employee benefits. Responsibilities encompass the end-to-end oversight of all benefits programs including general oversight to assigned areas of responsibility. Specializing in employee benefits ensuring full compliance with applicable Federal and Oregon state laws Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) District Board policies and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). This position works independently makes decisions within their area of expertise and is expected to demonstrate professionalism and support District Employee Benefits Specialist serves as a trusted technical advisor to administrators principals supervisors and employees throughout the District and partners cross-departmentally with Human Resources Payroll and Risk Management to ensure integrated accurate and legally defensible benefits administration.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications including but not limited to email and systems applications
  • Experience in strong organizational systems
  • Ability to interpret policies regulations and documentation related to employee benefits
  • Communicates clearly and professionally including preparing reports correspondence and informational materials for diverse groups.
  • Collaborates with clear and respectful communication.
  • Proactive and able to improve processes before issues escalate.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and commitment to cross-departmental collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of and experience with spreadsheet tools such as Excel or Google Sheets to support reconciliation data tracking and reporting functions
