Hours are duties: Work alongside a field technician and postdoctoral researcher to maintain rainout structures install moisture and sap flux sensors collect tree water stress data and help with other related tasks. Most work will be outdoors but some lab work is likely. Positions will be based in West Lafayette Indiana but individuals will be employed remotely by the Carnegie Institution for Science and will be part of the research group led by Staff Scientist Dr. Jeff qualifications:We seek to hire employees who are responsible reliable and accountable; enthusiastic about learning new skills and good at communicating and taking direction. We seek individuals who are comfortable hiking off-trail and working outdoors in the forest in frequently hot or inclement weather conditions; dealing with bugs and poison ivy; climbing ladders working with battery-powered construction tools and occasionally working long hours as dictated by research needs. Individuals should be comfortable lifting 25 pounds and occasionally engaging in strenuous physical activity in the expect to train assistants as needed but optional skills that might be useful include:* Experience with plant identification* Familiarity with forest measurement techniques* Experience with sensors dataloggers and electrical circuits* Experience with workshop and technical skills* Knowledge of basic field first aid* Degree or enrollment in courses in biology environmental sciences engineering earth systems forestry or a related fieldWhile this is primarily envisioned as a summer position candidates could potentially start as early as April and/or work through the end of September or apply please submit a resume or CV and a one-page cover letter using theApplybutton can be directed to: Theresa Hudson ().
