About the Department

The Advancement Office at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) plays a vital role in supporting the schools mission to educate and empower the worlds most influential artists designers and scholars. Advancement partners strategically with internal and external stakeholders to build enduring relationships secure philanthropic support and steward resources that enhance the student experience fuel academic excellence and strengthen SAICs impact locally and globally.

The team leads a broad range of activities including fundraising major and planned giving advancement services and operations alumni engagement and donor relations. By leveraging best-in-class systems data insights and creative engagement strategies Advancement ensures that SAIC can continue to provide world-class resources from faculty support and scholarship funding to state-of-the-art facilities and innovative programs. Collaboration across departments thoughtful stewardship and a commitment to community and creativity are at the heart of the offices work.

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Advancement Systems & Analytics supports the operational data management and reporting needs of the Advancement division of School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). This role works closely with colleagues across SAIC Advancement and other departments to satisfy information needs and deliver high-quality analysis reports and insights that facilitate data-driven decision making.

This position reports to the Director of Advancement Operations and Services. They will coordinate and fulfill production requestsincluding data imports reports audits and analyticsensuring accuracy consistency and timeliness. The Associate Director will be joining the team at an exciting time for SAIC and the Department of Advancement playing a key role in the divisions CRM transition from Raisers Edge to ascend (Salesforce). This role works in close partnership with Advancement systems administration including Raisers Edge Power BI Reporting Services and related platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain data structures within the CRM (currently Raisers Edge) and related systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Support data integrity through audits validations and hygiene projects; assist users with data imports and identify recurring issues for resolution.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track fundraising progress and other Advancement metrics using tools such as Power BI Reporting Services and/or Tableau.
  • Conduct needs assessments for reporting requests; lead and participate in regular collaboration sessions with the Advancement team.
  • Create update and distribute ad hoc and scheduled reports to Advancement and SAIC leadership.
  • Conduct data analysis for regular pipeline reviews and participate in ad hoc projects as requested.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for Advancement staff and campus partners on data processes reporting tools and system use.
  • Support ongoing data cleanup entry and other operational and development needs as assigned.
  • Collaborate with partners across the institutionincluding Central Operations and the Museumon data integrity analytics best practices and CRM implementation.
  • Contribute towards identification of business needs and the creation of innovative solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the goals of Advancement Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Management Computer Science or a related fieldor equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 35 years of experience working with CRM systems (e.g. Raisers Edge Salesforce).
  • Demonstrated experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of T-SQL relational database systems and data management principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-pace environment.
  • High attention to detail accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Experience working in a service-oriented collaborative environment.
