Job Description

About the Opportunity
Our client a leading Canadian organization in the healthcare and services sector is seeking a Manager Payroll to lead and oversee the day-to-day payroll operations. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a collaborative fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise payroll operations ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Review and approve payroll data including timesheets ensuring accurate processing and reporting
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing including reconciliations and general ledger alignment
  • Resolve complex payroll inquiries from employees and management
  • Maintain enhance and continuously improve payroll systems processes and controls
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation payroll taxes and employment standards
  • Prepare and review year-end payroll reporting including T4s reconciliations and statutory filings
  • Manage employee payroll records including new hires changes and terminations
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources on benefits administration and employee data accuracy
  • Support financial reporting budgeting and forecasting activities related to payroll
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc payroll reports for Finance leadership and regulatory bodies
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and service delivery
  • Support cross-functional projects with Finance and other departments
  • Administer executive payroll and handle highly confidential and sensitive transactions

Qualifications

  • Canadian Payroll designation (PCP or CPM)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience including people leadership
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High level of accuracy discretion and attention to detail
