About the Opportunity Our client a leading Canadian organization in the healthcare and services sector is seeking a Manager Payroll to lead and oversee the day-to-day payroll operations. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a collaborative fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise payroll operations ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Review and approve payroll data including timesheets ensuring accurate processing and reporting
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing including reconciliations and general ledger alignment
Resolve complex payroll inquiries from employees and management
Maintain enhance and continuously improve payroll systems processes and controls
Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation payroll taxes and employment standards
Prepare and review year-end payroll reporting including T4s reconciliations and statutory filings
Manage employee payroll records including new hires changes and terminations
Collaborate closely with Human Resources on benefits administration and employee data accuracy
Support financial reporting budgeting and forecasting activities related to payroll
Produce regular and ad-hoc payroll reports for Finance leadership and regulatory bodies
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and service delivery
Support cross-functional projects with Finance and other departments
Administer executive payroll and handle highly confidential and sensitive transactions
Qualifications
Canadian Payroll designation (PCP or CPM)
Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience including people leadership
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
High level of accuracy discretion and attention to detail
